It's Friday 7th August, and the Ashes are being played out at Headingley this weekend. I'm reading the commentary here and I think England is in to bat (and that we're missing Freddie Flintoff this match for some reason...) but it's a little hard to tell because... well, check out the commentary page and you'll perhaps see what I mean. So...

...I thought it might be fun to use prompts from the commentary today, because honestly, they could mean anything. For example:

Right, it's Jerusalem, and here come the players. - B/D are sent to pick up a villain who's been hiding out as set designer in a professional theatre company.

Siddle shares the new cherry with Hilfenhaus, and here's Cook on strike... - Siddle and Hilfenhaus are in charge of training new boys, Bodie and Doyle...

No need to worry folks, here comes KP... hang on a minute... come on Belly, now's your time. He gets a poor leg-side full-toss first up and sees out the over. - Bodie's shirt has been torn away, revealing his tummy, which Doyle... no, I'm just gonna leave the rest of that to your imaginations... *g*

So... If you think you might manage a bizarre-commentary inspired ficlet, drabble, or... well, anything really, comment below and I will give you a random snatch of commentary from this weekend's test match... There are runs in it for anyone who participates, all counting towards the ultimate ProsTestFic trophy prize, awarded at the end of the series... *g*

Posting anytime you like, as long as it's by midnight Tuesday 11th in your timezone (or Pago Pago, as always). As always, feel free to claim a prompt just in case you might manage it, and feel free to claim and post as often as you like!

Anyone fancy the game? *g*

As an Aussie I haven't had very much to laugh about recently when it came to the Ashes series, but this part of the commentary got to me: The scorecard says 'Australia: Yet to bat'. Apparently, so are England."
Not that I think we have a chance on this tour - mentally I've already allocated the Ashes trophy to the Poms

And... and... the bit that just cracked me RIGHT up - "Forty minutes without the loss of a wicket - God bless the lunch break." LOL! Literally. Some very witty people there! Better than the stuffy, staid commentary on the Aus cricket site. Have bookmarked - thanks!

It seems like it, doesn't it? *g* But I'll have you know that they're dissing the Aussies equally - The enigma that is Mitchell Johnson... for the Aussie selectors it must be like packing a Steinway piano onto the plane at Sydney only for a Bontempi organ to turn up in Heathrow. Yessss....

I'll have a go please, although bear in mind I'm one of those having a go just in case I can manage it *g*

Oh my! The possibilities...

Pretty sure the ribbon will be circumnavigating something slightly smaller, if I can.. erm... weave it in.

Thanks ♥

Oooh, I'd like a prompt! Quick, before I start twisting that line about the players into something written in iambic pentameter...
