Echoing here what others have said. The set up and dialogue is just perfect. Love the way Doyle locks it all down at the beginning when he's worried, battening it down in front of the others. The opening hostage scene felt very episode-like. And Izzie's right, there's nothing like a bit of misunderstanding to wrap a warm-hearted fic around. Very difficult to choose a favourite line, but this exchange, I think, captures them both perfectly.*g*

“Yes, you disbelieving sod. The ‘rest of our lives’, I said. Permanent.”
“That won’t be very long, in your case.”
“Ah, now, don’t be like that. And eat your eggs before they’re cold.”
