Although there are other places to post Prosfic, art and general homage to the boys, we thought it would be nice to have a community where people could play with challenges and post their own work to those challenges, resulting in occasional little flurries of Pros-goodness to flists across lj. The idea is to have fun, to be inspired and inspiring to others, and to bring a little more Pros into the world - can't be bad, right?
We will post challenges as ideas and celebrations arise (and with a decent space of time for people to respond properly) and for most of these it will simply be a case of commenting to say that you would like to join in, and then posting your fic/art/commentary/creation/whatever! on the appropriate day. Specifics will always be explained in the Challenge Post. Ideas for new challenges are happily received - do email either of the mods at the email addresses below.
Although you don't need to be a member to comment at the comm, in order to post you do need to join the community. If you don't have a livejournal and would like to post, then please send your submissions to either of the mods at the email addresses below.
Posting, Submissions and General Community Rules/Guidelines
Community rules and guidelines are basically to help with organisation, and in the hope that people will treat each other well. They are meant to be neither intrusive nor prescriptive.
1. Please include the following "trailer" to help with archiving at the end of your post (rather than as a header at the beginning):
Title:
Author:
Slash or Gen:
Archive at ProsLib/Circuit:
Author's Name for Archiving (if different to above):
Disclaimer:
Notes: (including warnings if you really wish to - these are not compulsory. Readers note: these will be included at the end of a story so as not to spoiler it for people who prefer their fic unadulterated!)
We use "trailers" rather than "headers" for a very specific reason. There's a long history in Pros of fans preferring not to be spoiled for a story by being warned ahead of time what is going to happen. If warnings etc are at the top of a story, then readers have no choice but to see them and be spoiled - but if we put them at the end of a story, readers have a choice: they can scroll quickly to the bottom of the post and find out whether there's anything to which they might be sensitive, or they can just read happily, and without being spoilered, from the top of the story. Please respect this compromise!
Please note that although we have left the archivist information in this trailer, the Pros archivists are currently (Feb 2009) not archiving stories automatically - you need to send your story to the archives individually, or archive it yourself at the new Automated Hatstand. Circuit Archive does not seem to be archiving at all, currently.
2. This is a slash community, although it is gen-friendly. We'd prefer not to go the way of het, thank you very much. We're just like that *g*
3. We're not prudish, and we adore the slash, but please be reasonably tasteful with images.
4. Debate and concrit is encouraged, flaming, personal crit and other forms of being unpleasant are not. In extreme cases the mods will step in.
5. Please post anything over 200 words or graphics heavy (more than 5 icons-worth-ish!) under an lj-cut, so we don't upset people's flists!
6. Please post fic/creations for a challenge only while that challenge is running. For various reasons to do with the running of the comm, archiving and creating the Dialj Challenge zines, it makes it a bit awkward for us if stories for one challenge are posted in the middle of another challenge - that's why we have the deadlines... Everyone will be very happy if you post your creation to one of the other Pros communities though, explaining that it was written for the Dialj challenge - and if we've not yet created the Challenge zine we can still include it with the other stories there! It might sound strange, and perhaps not how other comms do it, but thanks in advance for being understanding!
7. Basically, apart from that - if it harms none, follow the challenge, and do what you will. And have fun doing it. *g*
