Some caravans (not that I've ever had one meself, actually!) have a table that converts into a bed by sort of opening a catch and folding the whole thing out. Sounds like one of the most uncomfortable things in the world to me, so Doyle was teasing Bodie when he did it, and then presenting it to him in a sort of faux-pretentious way as his "home from home". I like imagining the look on Bodie's face when he realised he'd not only have to sleep in a caravan, but on a table... although of course being Bodie he got the bed in the end... and the bloke... *g*
