I'm a sucker for "A Christmas Carol", admittedly, but I really liked the way you linked everything together, each of the ghosts feeding into the other, and into the final scene. Very nicely done! There's so much to like in this final section, too--the horror of what Bodie saw had happened to Doyle; the panic as he wakes up; the near-euphoria as he hears Doyle's voice (oh, very nice! *g*); Doyle being wary and Bodie bulling right through that *g*; the confession and Doyle's reaction; the kiss... Just, all told, a lovely Christmas present. Thank you!
In this last bit, I guess the line that got to me the most was this: "You big old softie," Doyle murmured, the bridge of his nose pressed against Bodie's neck, his hand rubbing soothing circles on Bodie's back. "Nightmare got you all twisted about, didn't it?"
