Oh, what a lovely story! I will echo what everyone else has said about the structure--by the third time Ray broke his resolution, I was chuckling.

It was angsty but not too angsty. It was also very visual without being overly descriptive. I, too, liked the way you folded in scenes from the past op into the present story.
