Wonderful story. I can't quite imagine Doyle slothful unless he is jacked up on something like tranquilizer darts! (Bodie's the one who seems to always want to shirk work.) And your playful Bodie was great fun.

Also, I hope you don't mind an editorial suggestion, but I'm pretty sure (much as I hate "cum" instead of "come" in another context) that it should be "anarchist-cum-zoo-guide" instead of "anarchist-come-zoo-guide." In this case "cum" means "along with" or "combined with." I've never seen it spelled "come" in that usage.
