So more like the old Washington Zoo, than the bright shiny new Toronto Zoo, then. That's kind of what I expected, and there's things to love about old zoos, too. (Mainly the architecture, because I felt a bit sorry for the animals in the Washington Zoo, too.) I think I must have picked the right times to visit though, as I've never encountered queues in either of the zoos I've been to.

Someday, I'll go! Probably when I retire and travel the world... ;-)

Oh, and as far as zoos go, Disney's Animal Kingdom was pretty nifty. Really good views of fairly content looking animals. We reported a patagonian cavy running amok on the trails and was informed that they only get excited if it's one of the expensive critters - like the parrots. Or if it's stumbled into the crocodile pit (in which case they want to retrieve the remains before the kiddies get traumatized).
