I'm taking the optimistic route and seeing it as a sort of prequel to "The Natural Order of Things". Not that the stories are connected or anything... but it'd be nice to think that they could get their act together after all. Versus Bodie wandering around periodically sighing and looking at Doyle wistfully, until Doyle can't stand it any more and murders him.
