Oh, I didn't think this was evil one little bit, I thought it was great! I love the way you used the Desiderata (which I must admit I'm quite fond of, so was very chuffed to re-discover it was in DiaG), and I loved your vision of them as older ex-CI5 types too. I do like fic that explores that sort of thing, and how their different backgrounds and experiences might continue to work together even when it seems they have nothing else in common. So, if you fancy being further encouraged by our myrebelcat I really think you should give in to the urge... *g*
