Wow. Not only have I responded to a challenge, but I've also written my first ever drabble...

Bodie remembers when necessity sometimes decreed that they should share a bed. How he’d awaken with Ray draped around him like a human blanket; how Ray would wake with a mumbled “sorry” and shift slightly, while he mumbled a “’s ok” in reply. And it was ok. More than ok.

Bodie wonders if Ray ever saw through the half-truths and staged situations that made the sharing necessary. If he did he never protested, so it must have been ok with him.

Nowadays Bodie doesn’t need subterfuge. Nowadays Ray shares his bed every night. And that’s ok with both of them.

I just love this so much. The reiteration of OK, and the progression from genuine necessity to staging to not needing subterfuge any more. My god, a drabble with plot and structure - quality in a nutshell!

Aw... this is a happy universe! I love the image of Ray "accidentally" draped over Bodie. Wonderful. :-)

Lovely rhythm to this, almost like a poem at times with the repetition of 'ok'. Well done - can't believe this is the first time you've drabbled - drabble some more!!

Yes, it must be true love. That's one beautiful drabble to prove it. Glad you shared it!

That mumbled sorry gets me! I can hear that, along with Bodie's reply. Thanks for this!

I really like how you conveyed so much in a few words. Nice little thread with "ok".

Ah, gorgeous! It conveys so much with so few words.

Oh, this was sweet! And I like the gentle rhythm you've created with the 'OK' repetition - I felt it reflected the gentleness of the subject-matter itself.

Thanks for sharing this.

A whole novel in 100 words. That's what drabbles are about!! Brilliant!

Christ, you wrote that bloody quick. Or is it something you've had lying around since, oh about 1975???

Dont get me wrong, I really liked it - and the images it conjures up - but...londonronnie??? Writing quickly???

*faints*

That is lovely! You tell such a tale within 100 words - really nice, thank you :)

Oh nice... I love Ray draped over Bodie in bed too... Write more! (Please?) *g*

Aww, and much more comfortable they are, I'm sure.

Aww, lovely.

I love this. Simple and to the point. First drabble, eh? First of many one hopes. ;)

I can so hear the mumbled and muttered apologies. it makes it all the warmer for them too.

Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

This is a fascinating image, Ray draped around Bodie, both of them skirting around what it all means. So glad they figured it all out in the end.

I'm a novel kind of guy. No such thing as too many pages. The longer, the better. So, short stories drive me crazy. And drabbles are even worse, leaving me hungry and unsatisfied.

But I have to admit, this was rather satisfying. Very nice!

This is fantastic - compelling imagery! :)
