NDrabble : Shoulder to Shoulder

With apologies to HG. I'm rereading Strange Days Indeed for the umpteenth time and this mutated from a moment in that. It's also stretched and battered into shape from smth else I attempted to write long ago.

My first official drabble in Pros

Shoulder to Shoulder

They stood, shoulder to bare shoulder at the kitchen doorway. Doyle chewed his lip. Bodie noticed.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"Come on, sunshine. Spill."

Bodie's indulgent tone made Doyle smile. He studied their bare feet on the lino.

"It's nothing... y'know, lovey-dovey."

"Be still my heart, then."

Doyle turned enough to cuff him. "Oi! I come off an undercover where I've been stuck with a bunch of bran-eating weirdos for five days, and all you've got in for me are eggs, and salt and vinegar crisps!"

"Bought you soft loo roll, what more do you want?"

Doyle bit the nearest shoulder.

Oh, more kitchen fic! And this one's particularly tasty. ;-) I especially adore your last line! The first thought that popped into my head on reading that was, "Go get 'im, Doyle!"

ROFL! Eggs and salt and vinegar crisps!!! I'd be pissed off too.

Thanks for sharing.

Love the 'be still my heart' line *g* Very nice, thanks!

Yea, Sheila! This was great. "Doyle bit the nearest shoulder." Love that line. Thank you.

And I just reread Strange Days Indeed on my plane trip. I love that zine. Good choice!

Heeee! Excellent!

"Be still my heart, then" - can just hear him saying that - and bit the nearest shoulder, oh yes! (I don't think he bit it too hard - just hard enough ...)

*snicker* That's great! Poor Ray - if I'd have the choice between Bodie's shoulder and eggs, salt and vinegar crisps I'd take the shoulder too. I so love those silly convos between them.

Exactly! It's what makes them and their relationship so unique.

Doyle chewed his lip. Bodie noticed.
Fantastic - you have them in six words! That's what I call a drabble *g*
And soft bog roll .... ahahaha!

[identity profile] empty-mirrors.livejournal.com 2007-09-22 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
LMAO oh yes. Bodie has his priorities right.

*Chuckles.

Nicely done.

"Bought you soft loo roll, what more do you want?"

LOL... this line had me laughing out loud. And so typical of Doyle not being able to keep to his dissatisfaction with Bodie's choice in menu to himself.

Really great! Thanks so much for sharing this.
I'd go for those shoulders to Doyle. *g*

Soft loo roll! Hee!
Yeah, a lot of people still bought the hard kind back in those days! What a way to show your love!
