Drabble: Hailstorm Fury

I didn't half leave this one till the last minute. But here's my stab at a Bonfire Night, fireworks inspired drabble.

Hailstorm Fury

Being partnered with Doyle was far too often like being caught in the middle of a bloody great storm, thunder and lightning crashing around you, wind furiously lashing hail and sleet in your face.

But no storm lasted forever, and there were other times when Doyle was both safe harbour and eye of the storm. Moments like right now, with Doyle the one still point on the Heath, watching as fireworks launched into the sky and sprogs with sparklers dashed about waiting for the Guy to burn.

The sound and fury, Bodie knew, only made the stillness all the sweeter.

Such great imagery to latch onto for Doyle - the "sound and fury" of a storm ( I've always loved that phrase). And then the "stillness" when it's over. Very nice.

Very vivid. I liked the imagery

Great word picture, and it fits Doyle to a T!

Lovely - "with Doyle the one still point" - great contrasts and feeling!

Oh, I loved your word choices! Especially "sprogs" - that brings back memories. My firstborn was called "sproggie" for most of her first six years of life.
Terrific analogy for Doyle - ties right in neatly with the day.

Yeah, very nice! I like how it captures Doyle--love the contrast and that the sound and fury are necessary for the stillness to have effect--but also how it captures Bodie. Well, I'm assuming it's Bodie, come to think of it... *g* Yeah, Bodie. Thanks!

This drabble captures a true aspect of their relationship, the fiery and emotional. Trust Bodie to be the one to see it.

Of course not. Just saying that, for this topic, Bodie's POV is perfect. For a "keep cool" topic, it'd be the other way round. *smooths ruffled feathers*

Oooo, liked that. So much to say in so few words. Thank you.

Oh, I liked that! Both the contrast of Doyle in motion (the sturm and drang of him) and at rest. I also like how the image of him as a still point calls to mind (for me, at least), him being the one thing Bodie's universe revolves around. Very nice.

Oh I adore this, just... the whole of Bodie's realisation about Doyle! And the storm analogy is perfect for him! Thank you!
