Beauty Lit - Bodie Smiles

He smiled. Subtle in its effect, it crossed his mouth, twisting it into beauty unlit before;
travelled on to his eyes, slanting them with warmth. Lost, Doyle capitulated.

Hyperion to a Satyr
Sebastian

Bodie and Doyle --
multifaceted,
undeniably exquisite on screen and captivating in writing.

One portion of Bodie's uniqueness is his smile.
In his smiles, grins, smirks, beams (!) we see so much emotion -
his expressions of joy, menace, delight, regret, tenderness.
Like Doyle in Hyperion, we capitulate.

This 'project' began simply while reading, thinking to myself, "*That* is his smile, exactly!" and feeling awe at our writers' ability to capture things with such clarity and beauty. I decided to try and find some of those expressions on film, and find images which fit in some way with the words.

It's only Bodie's smiles, but I remind myself that part of the captivation in these smiles is born in Doyle's unique perception of Bodie - many of these smiles are either caused by Doyle or are shared - reciprocal - reflected between the two of them.

I don't think it's possible to capture all of Bodie's smiles. I've gathered these from a small portion of footage and from an even smaller porportion of the written words we have. I also know that a single frozen frame cannot hope to encapsulate the power and range of the written smiles, or of the onscreen smiles, but it's what I was able to work with. I wish that I had the talent with graphics that some of you have, too - I don't think I can do it justice, but I gave it a go. Limited only by time, not by desire, it's a start. Smile, it's Bodie!

Paris this is gorgeous - thank you so much! You've really done an amazing job, with the quotes and the graphics and the sheer love that shines though - cos it really does. Just the sort of thing that makes Pros fandom a lovely place to be *g*

Oh, stunning. And much as I've always been more of a Doyle fan, I loved these to bits. The *wealth* of the guy's smiles is quite something, and what a labour of love to capture so many.

Coo! What a complete luxury and treat, to be able to wallow in a bath of perfect Bodieness on a cold and foggy morning. I'm speechless, breathless and soaking wet.

Haven't been able to keep up with everything on here on a daily basis, so I've just been dipping in haphazardly whenever I've got the chance. Don't know what I was expecting when I clicked on your 'day' but certainly nothing like this because I've never seen anything like it before. It's so wonderful I'm practically speechless!

What a perfect combination of words and pictures - I just can't stop looking at it. The whole thing's beautiful, just like the man himself.

Thank you!

How utterly, utterly wonderful. Clearly a labour of love and as everyone else has said, you've done such a wonderful job of matching picture to words.

That was completely Beautiful. Wow. I have appreciated Bodie's looks for many, many years. But now, well. Thanks. He really is a remarkable creature. So chameleon like in so many ways.
You have done us all proud. Thank you so much for doing this for us.
The quotes were amazing and the pictures you placed with them were perfect. I feel truly content now.
Thank you again.

Here's to Bodie's smiles. *raises glass* Cheers!

I'm grinning myself now. Thank you for thinking this up and making it happen, You certainly seem to have captured some of his special allure - his smile.
