Discovered in a Christmas Stocking, January 1, 2010

I bring you best wishes for a joyful, prosperous and healthy New Year. I also bring you fic.

My story is entitled "Doubt Truth To Be A Liar" and was previously published in the zine, Secret Agent Men 11. The art create for this story was done by Lorraine Brevig and she's graciously given me permission to post it with the fic, so part of this gift is from Lorraine. I'm posting two links to my website, so please read carefully in case you want or don't want spoilers.

First, the story with a special clicky place at the very top left which will enable you to jump down to the info regarding the story. Otherwise, you can admire the beautiful art and start reading if you like:

Second, a direct link to the story information, including summary, pairing, etc:

I downloaded the last three SAM zines a few weeks ago and I remember that I really enjoyed your story. Thanks for posting it!

Ah, the Don DeMarco fic, lads in sunny Spain - so glad you're posting your zine stories! *g* (And heee, cos I'd forgotten you used Shakespeare's Doubt - still, it's a good un, isn't it! *g*) Gorgeous illustration too - thank you both!

Oh thank you! What a lovely start to the new year *g* I'll have to read it later ::glowers at RL:: but the artwork alone is gorgeous. Thank you again, and Happy New Year!

Thank you! What a nice New year prezzie! I particularly enjoyed the Spanish bit because we are constantly driving through Spain on our way to and from our other house in Portugal, so it was a lovely reminder and also made me want to set off again immediately!

We're renovating a farmhouse in the central mountains (see icon) and all my f'list plus other people I know via LJ are invited to visit - but it's a bit rough and ready at the moment!! Once it's 'done' I could probably host a 'live' meeting of The Reading Room... (provided they were willing to pick grapes or peaches or olives or something).

Right, I'm packing my bags...! LOL

I've never been to Spain or Portugal, but increasingly keen to go.
"pick grapes or peaches or olives or something", sounds like heaven!

Well, I would wait till summer. Whilst temperatures there are higher than here (about ten degrees usually) it is still winter and a bit rainy at times, which helps all that fruit to grow!! Also, I only have enough hot water bottles for us and the central heating is not yet in...

Haven't yet had a chance to read it but thank you very much for posting your story, it will be something to look forward to. And with a beautiful illustration - I love the 'older' lads look and I love the idea of Bodie meeting up with DeMarco in later life.

Lovely! Thank you. I like the older lads, and this story, where they find each other again, is very satisfying. Beautiful artwork, too!

Older lads and Don de Marco aren't particularly my thing, but I really enjoyed the cross-over and this lush, extended happy ending after a traumatic time for both of them. I like your Bodie from his first appearance in the cafe, having been able to rebuild his life, albeit a rootless one, and so caring. And to give Doyle the gift of the bond between man and dog (a bit more realistic as a pet than a bear) - ahhh!
And the artwork is beautiful, one of the best likenesses I've seen. Thanks for including it.

Oh, well! I do have a thing for both amnesia stories and long-lost reunion stories! So, yes, I did enjoy this. *g* And that artwork...oh, she is good, isn't she? Thank you very much for the New Year's Day entertainment!

How was the trip home? Are things okay?
The trip was fine--uneventful, which is good. *g* But it was very long and I was very tired by the time I got home. Re-entry at home has been rough. Hmm. Maybe I'll post about it. Reading your story this morning was definitely a much-needed bit of enjoyment. *g*

Older lads, and older lads in Spain?? Oh yes. That was lovely, Kat. Thank you!

Catching up on some reading

[identity profile] saintvic.livejournal.com 2010-02-01 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well I am catching up on some reading and wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed this. It makes me sad to think of the lads apart for so many years but the reunion is emotional and lovely. Was intrigued throughout to learn of what happened to them through the years and happy at the resolution. Thank you.

know how you feel about long separations
I liked that in your story it made their reunion that much more moving because no matter what happened throughout the years, who else was with them, they only felt right once they were together.
