Oh, I don't want to, I don't want to, I don't want to! - but I must... This is the final post of the Discovered in a Christmas Stocking Challenge, and hasn't it been brilliant? Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue who did a fab job making a banner and icon that made me giggle whenever I saw it, and to everyone who's participated, who's created, and read and viewed, and commented and just enjoyed it all - Pros is just the best place to be at Christmas time!

I'll link posts to the Calendar above as usual, so that you just have to click on someone's userpic to be taken to their creations and contributions, and the challenge is archived on the User Info page as usual too... And I am planning to catch up with the Dialj Bounds, one of these days... For people who've written fic - don't forget to send your stories to our ProsLib archivist, at proslib at gmaildotcom, and perhaps archive yourself to The Automated Hatstand...

And that must be all for this year... Although there might be another wee challenge along shortly - maybe even very shortly *g* - so do keep your eyes peeled...

OK, the clues from my story "The Ballads of Billy Redmond" are revealed under the cut. I'm also going to edit the story to put the answers in - they'll remain "highlight to read" so anyone who would still like to have a go (first, second, third attempt etc...) can do so. And with that thought in mind, here are the instructions again, with a little more help for you all:

Within the story there are five clues (I've pretty much given you the answer to the first one). Each is numbered, so you won't have any problems locating them. Each is a song – a title, an artist or a lyric. All the solutions can be found on the Internet (Google, Wikipedia etc). Your task is to identify the songs and the artists, then use that information to work out what Billy is trying to tell Bodie & Doyle. If you get all 5 right you wind up in an interesting place in London, but you need to solve all 5 to find it.

Answers and picture here )

I'll be unscreening comments later, but I have to do something about dinner first :)

Hello!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my fic and had a go at guessing the greeting card (think that may have been just you BSL *g*). It was the first time I tried a 'quiz', sorry if I made it a bit too tricky! Answers are behind the cut (I hope), and I haven't yet had a chance to read everyone's fic, but am looking forward to replying, reading and commenting as January shivers on.  *g*

I always feel so sad about this, because it's always been so fabulous, but yesterday's post was the final toy in the stocking, and today is all about tidying up... *sighs sadly*

Before I do the close-out post though, would people who posted quizzes and competitions like to post their answers today? Under cuts, please, for people who've not yet managed to have a play (I've still not managed to have a go at [livejournal.com profile] probodie's quiz, and I want to...), and perhaps mentioning the day of the challenge in the subject header, to make it easier to find?

Actually, here they are, if anyone would like one last go... *g*
The Pub Quiz one by [livejournal.com profile] probodie
The Jukebox one by [livejournal.com profile] kiwisue
The Greeting Card one by [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue

And later there will be the final post, and linking of calendar and people and all...

Thank you! *g*

Well, finally, in the nick of time, by the skin of my teeth, and with sleepsy eyes and not much snow - but extra added pretentious titling! - a wee little something that has taken me a while to write...

Who Caught and Sang the Sun
by Slantedlight

Yes, it's my NaNoWriMo fic, and truth be told it probably shouldn't technically be considered finished, because although I have to thank both [livejournal.com profile] angel_ci5 and [livejournal.com profile] magenta_blue for beta comments and generally not killing me when it probably would have been quite understandable, neither of them have seen either the end, or this whole version, and not even I've read it from Word One to Word Sixty Three Thousand, Five Hundred and Twelve all at once, so... there could be anything going on in there. I have read various combinations and variations on all those 63,512 words, just... not all one after another. Yes, it's rush-to-post syndrome... So do feel free to let me know if you spot anything a bit off, and I may or may not agree with you, and may or may not change it, but I'll thank you anyway! *g*

Here's a version without page numbers for people who'd like to read via Kindle - I gather .mobi doesn't convert pdfs with page numbers very well at the moment...
Who Caught and Sang the Sun - no page numbers for .mobi conversion

And finally - if anyone would prefer it up over at Automatic Hatstand, do let me know and I'll post it there tomorrow. I just had to be speedy tonight - there are only 8 minutes of my day left..! - ETA - I've posted to Automatic Hatstand now too, if anyone prefers an html version! *g*

This is really by way of being a squee and a yeay, and in the hope that as many Pros-y people will see it as possible (and it's nothing to do with me really, except for the sound of happiness over in this corner.. *g*)

[livejournal.com profile] recycledmedia is a Pros slash fan of old, who was making Pros vids long, long before I came along - in fact they were mostly unavailable by then (about 2005) except perhaps on video. Then she posted a few to her lj as a sort of Christmas present for her flist, and I downloaded some of them - and ohhhh!

I fell totally in love with Not A Day Goes By, which almost made me cry and Where Are You Now?, and hee for Monkey in the Middle, and I was a wee bit haunted by Saints and Angels, and...

...and now they're available to be downloaded again!

These are 10 vids that may be new to you (and some will be new to me, so I'm looking forward to downloading those too...), found at the link above:
Because You Love Me
Burn
If Heaven
Missing
Monkey in the Middle
My Last Breath
Not a Day Goes By
Saints and Angels
Where Are You Now? (Media West 2004 1st Single fandom slash)
You Don't
You Made Me That Way

And do leave a quick thank you to let her know you've been to visit and/or download - this is another of our Pros-y and great grandmothers! Thank you [livejournal.com profile] recycledmedia! *vbg*

Songvids are a bit like buses, aren't they? You wait ages for one, then two come along together…

So, following hard on the heels of my first ever songvid comes… my second ever songvid!

My first offering for today, and it's something of a new departure for me - my first ever songvid!

For years I've thought that this song would be great for a slashy songvid, and I finally decided to have a bash at it myself.

Here it is then...

Happy New Year everyone!

Wow, people... I think my muse has truly and thoroughly deserted me. This pains me far more than it pains you. I would have liked to have handed you complex and finely crafted wallpapers like the old days, but this is the best I could come up with:

2 walls )

And a mass "thank you" to all who have posted before me - I've been a bit rushed for time and may not have posted on as many gifties as I intended. There have been some awesome posts!

Me again,

I thought I'd offer up this little ficlet as well, which was born out of a visit to Bodmin Jail on Boxing Day.  It's not much, but I hope you like it:

Hi guys

It's my turn today and I have two short fics to offer.  Hope you like them.  Here's the first one:

I bring you best wishes for a joyful, prosperous and healthy New Year. I also bring you fic.

My story is entitled "Doubt Truth To Be A Liar" and was previously published in the zine, Secret Agent Men 11. The art create for this story was done by Lorraine Brevig and she's graciously given me permission to post it with the fic, so part of this gift is from Lorraine. [livejournal.com profile] artconserv

I'm posting two links to my website, so please read carefully in case you want or don't want spoilers.

First, the story with a special clicky place at the very top left which will enable you to jump down to the info regarding the story. Otherwise, you can admire the beautiful art and start reading if you like:

Second, a direct link to the story information, including summary, pairing, etc:

I hope you enjoy the story.

Greetings and Happy New Year to all!

My muse having deserted me mid-story (I think the poor thing is still trapped in the security check line at Heathrow), I've put together a cryptic puzzle for you to solve in the best tradition of CI5.

In the maze of letters below are (If I've done this correctly) forty words relating in some way to The Professionals. They can be people, objects or places. The letters can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, forwards or backwards. Note 1: I've kept to canon only. Note 2: there may be some random ordinary words produced by the process of making the puzzle - this is the biggest one I've ever done. I've tried to weed out the background noise, but I've found some always slip through.

BSL, can you give me a heads-up on when it will be okay to post the solution.

I hope everyone's having a wonderful holiday season and that you are all enjoying the lovely pressies which have turned up in the [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj stocking as much as I am.

My prompt for today was "a plastic toy" – which did manage to work its way into the fic, although it was not the little bag of plastic animals I think it was supposed to be. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the story anyway. :)

Hi guys, and a merry Christmas and a happy New Year and a great Yule and whatever else you've been celebrating.

My prompt was 'Top Trumps'. Fortunately I have young sons and therefore wasn't completely flummoxed! Actually, it's been a lot of fun researching this, and I've stuck in a couple of links for anyone who might possibly be interested.

Hi all!

My prompt was 'dolls house'.
'Great' I though - and I had visions of a tiny sweet dolls house with Bodie and Doyle in it.
I thought I could cut out the figures from the episodes screencaps, make sketches out of them
and invent a new story - something like a comic maybe.
Something little girls like to play with... :-)

So much for imagination... Then time went by... it came the evening before 'my day'...
Guess what! )

Happy Holidays!

Sneaking this in slightly more than an hour before the deadine - my apologies! Written around the stocking-stuffer for my day - felt tip pens - here's what happens when the lads write a lot but, being men, don't really talk. *g* Title taken from the ever-nifty Shakespeare, who writes these things far better than I do.

Happy holidays, everyone!

With apologies to you all for posting up so late in the day, myself and my (hastily drafted in) co-writer bring you a terrifying tale of monsters and showers and surprising juxtapositions of the two.
