Discovered In A Sketchbook
According to the world clock, it is now Friday 21st September all around the globe - well, except in those places where it's already Saturday *g* - and so that is the end of another Discovered In 1977 challenge.
This time we managed not only a gorgeous prompt picture from the talented
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
So, as ever, a big thank you to everyone who took part - and, because

The Two Day Drabble Challenge!
So there I was, wandering lj, reading gorgeous fic and drabbles and comments to said fic and drabbles, when I come across a certain
moth2fic who shall be nameless (*g*), all inspired by a certain
loyseofverlaine (who shall be named *g*) wondering if anyone might be interested in a Drabble Challenge...
Meanwhile,
empty_mirrors is working solo on the October challenge (as a result of me whinging months ago that the one problem with dialj is that I'm never surprised by challenges any more!), and jumped at the chance of a couple more days to get sorted, so...
We bring you an interuption to our currently planned schedule - Drabble Challenge!
Between now and midnight on Saturday 22nd September (the one between Saturday and Sunday, that is - and yes, this extends to Honolulu time...) we'd like people to write and post Pros drabbles - exactly one hundred words each of purely glorious lads-ness. As many as you like, as often as you like! The only rules are that they have to be Pros (well, of course!) and that they have to be single drabbles, of exactly 100 words! No double/triple/quintuple drabbles please - we like those, but they're really ficlets in disguise... *g* We're after those hundred perfect words...
If you'd like a prompt word to help you along, do comment below and either myself,
empty_mirrors or perhaps that instigating
moth2fic will come up with something for you. And in fact, if you see someone who's requested a prompt and had no answer yet - please feel free to offer them a single word around which to base their drabble!
So... it's only 100 words... you know you want to... *g*

One more drabble!
I'm rather more proud of this one than the last. :-)
But it's unbeta'd, so proceed with caution.

Drabbles
Two prompts. Two drabbles. I don't count the titles.
Spartacus 100 words
A warrior, certainly, ready to fight injustice, trying to improve the lot of the masses, protecting them from the wolves, and from themselves.
Prepared to defend, to the death if necessary, his beliefs, his honour and his partner. Especially his partner, though he hoped to live for him instead.
A slave, too, to the organisation that would call him from bed, board or recreation, to the Official Secrets Act and to government parsimony and pettiness.
Slave, too, to his partner. They had each surrendered their freedom laughingly, lovingly, but not lightly, and the slave shackles were made of pure gold.
Gliding 100 words
Why in the name of Cowley and all sinners had Doyle chosen this sport as their newest recreation?
“For fun,” he had said.
“A different way to keep fit,” he had said.
“To keep you on your toes,” he had said.
And then, the weekend course in the Peak District with the running up and down hill and the instructor’s shouts. But when Bodie saw his partner gliding across the moorland, lit from behind by the early evening sun, he suddenly knew why.
“You had to make the nickname a glorious reality, Angelfish,” he whispered, taking off to join him.

new drabble
Well, this hit me as I was biking home - and I didn't even need a prompt.
******
Euclid
She was beautiful.
Don't think I ever said more than that about her: Krivas killed her and she was beautiful.
And here's Doyle, grey as a ghost and thin as a rag, hair all snarled and flattened, covered in bandages and tubes coming out everywhere. And he smells.
But he's breathing.
He's so full of painkillers his eyes are all pupil, and he can't get them more than half-mast as they drift aimlessly all round the room. I know he's not really seeing anything.
Then he looks straight at me and smiles.
Christ, I never knew what beautiful was.

Having a go
Everybody’s alive. McCabe won’t see the outside of a hospital for a week, but everybody’s alive. Bodie’s alive. Grinning all over his face, the stupid bastard. Does he think I don’t know why he bulldozed me out of the way? Does he think I don’t care he took a crease himself? Stupid bloody bloody-minded bastard.
Clean-up’s done. Sun’s out. It’s shining all over him and his hair’s every which way and his eyes are bright and he’s looking right at me and his smile’s gonna have Cowley wondering why any minute now …. think I’ll take the stupid bastard home.

Drabble - please don't shoot me!
Ok, this is my first ever Pros drabble, so please don't shoot me if I don't have them down to the spot yet. It's something that came to my mind in a flash so I wrote it down - 100 words exactly. I do have a problem with those darn commas now and then *cough* Hope it got them right this time. Ok, here goes...
( Safe Haven )
I'm not much of a writer but I hope this little thingie is acceptable... *bites nails* I must be totally crazy doing this...

Some drabble prompts
Like
byslantedlight, I have to go... I'm off early tomorrow and we're staying in a hotel without internet access so it'll be Monday morning before I catch up with the fun. But in case anybody wants prompts, I thought I'd cheat and offer ten of the latest prompts we had on
drabblemania. Have fun and be good!

NDrabble : Shoulder to Shoulder
With apologies to HG. I'm rereading Strange Days Indeed for the umpteenth time and this mutated from a moment in that. It's also stretched and battered into shape from smth else I attempted to write long ago.
