Oh, wow! The construction of this is gorgeous. I love the intimate feel of the two of them nestled beneath the tarp, the back and forth banter, and the way you weave the case into what had been previously largely a character/dialogue piece. Then the way it all comes together in the last few paragraphs is inspired. You realize (or I did!) not a single seemingly random bit of dialogue was unnecessary. It's a brilliant bit of writing and charming as hell. Thanks.
