It's all sadly over for another year - there are no more posts to come in our calendar... I never like making this post, taking down the banner, and closing the challenge, and posting the final calendar... But it is nice to say thank you to everyone who took part! Creators and readers and commenters all - you are what makes our Pros community a lovely thing to be part of - may your new year be lovely and Pros-y and full of many good things (including more creating and reading and commenting, I hope... *g*)

The calendar posts are now all tagged and archived - click on one of the days in the calendar, and it will take you to that person's post - or posts. (I know I've still got catching up reading and commenting to do!) Once you're on a post, you can click on the tags to find either all the Holly and Ivy entries together in one place, or all the [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj posts made by a particular author/artist/vidder (actually, I'm still working on that, but you can find lots to start with). And finally, the challenge will be added to the User Info page, and all entries can be found by clicking on the challenge banner if you ever feel like going back for a browse.

I know lots of people have archived to A03, but if you've not already done so/been picked up, do send your fic-type offerings to our Proslib archivist, via proslib at gmaildotcom for archiving to our very own Pros-only collection, too (and thank you, too, [livejournal.com profile] hagsrus for all the wonderful work you do to save our stories and creations!)

And I think the only thing I have left to do now is to close the calendar curtain on the challenge, with one more look at all the pretties... Thank you again, everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much. We're travelling in New Zealand, and I'm just popping in here to post the answers before checking out of our delightful B&B in Dunedin. The answers to the crossword are under the cut. If you prefer, there's a link to a *.pdf file which has a completed crossword on the second page.

Alas, no-one managed to complete the puzzle in its entirety. Reckon I should take responsibility for making the clues too tough *g*.

I am going to post the answers to the crossword in a minute, in a separate post behind a cut - but if you're the kind of person who insists on struggling (ah, the masochistic pleasure) - I've updated the list of clues to include the episode title.

Okay, we're back to Christmas for the second time today, with another wee bit of fluff... I did think about putting these into a corner to wait for next Christmas, but that's a whole year away and you never know what might happen, so... back to Christmas. *g*

And a huge thank you to betas [livejournal.com profile] jessebee and [livejournal.com profile] heliophile_oxon, who both helped to make this an actual story! Anything odd that remains is all due to my fiddling!

I'm hoping for three posts today, but there must be Job 1 work between now and that other post, so we'll have to see how we go...

Some people have already seen this one (but on paper *g*). I know it's nearly all over, but we're nipping back to Christmas...

TogetherAtChristmas(small)Together at Christmas
by Slantedlight

Christmas on duty. Again. Doyle watched silently as yet another Brussel sprout rebounded from the wall and into his abandoned cup of tea.

“I could have been away with Lorna all weekend, if bloody Michaels hadn’t got married this year,” Murphy was saying, looking around the table. A dozen eyes looked back at him, with varying degrees of interest. “It’s discrimination, that’s what it is.”

Bodie took another swig of whatever it was in his mug - neat rum if his breath was anything to go by when he turned Doyle’s way - and looked sceptical. “Discrimination? Against us?”

“Too right it is - single blokes need love too, you know! And Christmases off.”

“And women,” Susan cut in, fishing another sprout from the bowl on the table, and starting to line it up. “Or at least we need Christmas parties and champagne under the mistletoe. And better canapes.”

And women! )

Just a bit of older lads domestic fluff.

Ahem.  Some apologies first.

1)  for my previous effort, and upsetting a few people.  For future reference, I don't write death fic.  If I kill someone off in fic, that's it.  They're gone forever.    Early on, I killed poor old Turner off, and I can't ever write about him again. It's in the rules
2)  for the contrived title of this one, which of course has to reflect the first one.  An alternative might be 'Sunshine on a Rainy Day'  Or 'New Year's Ray'.  I am so bad at titles :(
3)  for the general faffage and more contrivance in both of them, which was mostly to do with word count
4)  erm... generally, I'm sorry.  It's fluff.

I'm sorry, this is not a happy tale :(

But I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and may you and your loved ones have health, happiness and peace in 2016.

I initially said I would post the answers to the Pros Christmas Crossword tonight, but I think most of you must be very busy about now, something I tend to forget about with our family being scattered across other states and countries. So I've decided to give everyone a lot more time - I hope that helps! After talking with [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight there'll be an opportunity to post the crossword solution at the end of the challenge, after 6th January - and so it shall be *g*. The drabble prizes are still on offer, naturally - details in my original post.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Day.
[identity profile] kiwisue.livejournal.com
Merry Christmas! I hope you don't have too much last minute shopping, or gift wrapping, or cooking to do today, because I thought I would attempt to get you thinking with a crossword. As I'm not a professional crossword-maker the clues vary wildly from straightforward to more than a little cryptic, with the odd (very odd) anagram tossed in. *g*

The picture is a *.jpg that can be copied onto an A4 sheet of paper with margins minimised and printed from there. You can shrink it a little for letter-sized paper. I'll post the answers in a separate post close to midnight Lad's Time. Oh, and just to make it interesting, I'll write a drabble for the first person to send me a completed puzzle before the answers are posted: I'll even make that two drabbles, one for people who are in daytime between 6 am and 6 pm when this goes up, a little after midday AEDT (1:00 am London), and another for the other half of the world! The only thing I can't promise is to write them today - actually it will probably be after Christmas, unless I'm suddenly inspired.

Email Address: miranda731 at yahoo dot com dot au Send me a scan or a photo of your completed puzzle - as long as I can read it the format's fine.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] golden_bastet, who allowed me to post the announcement of the winners on her day!

Thank you everybody for the fantastic captions and all the votes!
I had a lot of fun and I am sure it was quite hard to vote, so here are the winners:

Merry Christmas everybody, have a wonderful holiday!!

I did it! Whew! Three stories...that were meant to be drabbles. *winces*

#3 is for [livejournal.com profile] solosundance. She asked for: Fallen angel. You might have to squint a bit, but this is where my mind went with the prompt.

Okay, story #2 now! This one was written for [livejournal.com profile] jessebee to the prompt: Hot chocolate on a very cold day.

#3 is still in the works, but I am hoping to post it in a few hours!

So, my intent was to write one story for today. Then it sort of stalled. And then I received three prompts from friends for drabbles to include in their Christmas cards. Only, you know, I'm actually really bad at drabbles! So, I wrote short stories instead! The original story remained stalled. Therefore, you're getting three short stories rather than one. (Assuming I can finish the third, which is still being finished. What? I've got lots of hours left, right?)

The original intended story will, I think, do better as a new year story, so I'm eyeing January!

First up, we have a story for [livejournal.com profile] macklingirl, who gave me the prompt: snow.

Snowfall (posted on A03).

One more post before my day here draws to a close...

If you toddle across to my Dropbox you will find a Pros calendar for 2016 all ready for you to download. Just click on the Pros Calendar folder and then open each individual page, where you'll see a Download button in the top right corner.

You can then print off the calendar and have the lads looking down at you from your wall throughout the year, or save to your computer.

Enjoy!

We're all very fond of a certain pair of CI5 operatives (it's why we're here after all!), but what about the characters that we love to hate? How well do you know your Pros villains?

Have a listen to this, and see how many baddies you can identify. Can you name the characters and the episodes that they appeared in?

No prizes I'm afraid (other than a virtual pat on the back from the assembled company). The answers will be posted here later today. Have fun!

ETA: Comments are now being screened so as not to give the answers away! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight for the suggestion - last time I posted a quiz here I don't think anyone gave their answers in the comments, so I must admit it hadn't occurred to me! Comments will be unscreened later when I post the answers.

ETA #2: Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight for the tips on screening. Got it all sorted now (I think! *g*)

Thank you again to [livejournal.com profile] firlefanzine for letting me post this on her day! You´re a star!

Alright, lots of people submitted entries to the

Christmas Challenge!!

Thank you everybody! And good luck, because the voting starts today and lasts until December the 23rd.
Same procedure as last year, everybody gets to vote three times, for each pic one vote.
Happy ticky boxes.
This way to the polls: )
