I'm particularly glad you liked that scene in the beginning. The guy in the toilet made a bad mistake thinking that LSD would be enough to render Bodie harmless. Actually, it just made him a lot less cognizant of the fact that he might get shot, lol!
And yeah... I wanted them to get it on, too. I thought writing drugged up sex would be fun. But Doyle's idealism was utterly unshakable, and when it came right down to it, I don't think he found drugged up Bodie particularly attractive. Physically, sure, but he's the kind of guy who needs his bed partners to be all there.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure Bodie's going to be very quick to bring it up again, once he's sober. So, it may take them awhile to get their act together. Of course, that could be entertaining, too. ;-)
