I love the way you used the Desiderata (which I must admit I'm quite fond of, so was very chuffed to re-discover it was in DiaG),
I'm glad I re-watched that episode before tackling this project, as it was fun picking and choosing bits of Desired Things to inflict on Doyle. Plus I was surprised and impressed by how easily one could read the original lines both ironically and artlessly, and have both work simultaneously.
and I loved your vision of them as older ex-CI5 types too. I do like fic that explores that sort of thing, and how their different backgrounds and experiences might continue to work together even when it seems they have nothing else in common.
