Discovered on Summer Holiday
Sep. 22nd, 2008 06:08 pmIt is that time of year... the days are getting shorter, the skies paler, and the leaves are starting to turn. The fields are gold and brown and settling to sleep - and the Discovered on Summer Holiday challenge is over, even in Pago Pago...
Thank you to everyone who came to play - there are a dozen gorgeous pieces of Pros-iness, stories and artwork both! I'll tag them as the Summer Holiday challenge, and work hard on figuring out how to get the banner links up into the user info, and now that I'm a bit freer, shall work on the massive backlog of Dialj downloadable zines as well...
If you've not already, then do think about archiving your fic at the new Automated Hatstand archive, to keep it accessible for new fans especially, and because it's a nice, simple place for people to wander and find stories to read.
And do keep your eyes open, because there will be another challenge anon - and, in case anyone would like to start thinking about it early, we're also planning another winter-Christmas-solstice-lights-in-the-dark December festival of Pros... You know, just in case there's a specific day you'd like to claim as your own... *g*

Date: 2008-09-22 08:36 pm (UTC)Thank you for this idea and the extended deadline... even if I have just felt it whooshing by... Ah well, I'll finish the damn thing at some point as there's nothing like a Summer story in the middle of winter. *headdesk*

Date: 2008-09-22 08:52 pm (UTC)Thank you for the encouraging words... today has *not* been a good day. It's over 16,000 words as it stands, so I hope to be able to do something with it eventually.
BK made me feel a bit better when she admitted to having a "mostly" finished story on her HD from *last* year's summer challenge... something about trestle tables?
So... is it still all right to pick up another challenge if you failed to clear the last one?

Of course! Why would it not be?! We're pretty much free of all rules here except please-don't-post-to-a-challenge-that's-finished-in-the-middle-of-another-challenge, and the obvious be-nice-to-each-other ones... There are so many things that can stop someone posting, life's just like that, and Pros is supposed to be somewhere we come to relax and enjoy, so...! If you don't post to your prompt, it's no big deal, and if you post something inspired by a challenge even if you didn't ask for a prompt then that's no big deal either. Chill, read fic, write Pros... that's pretty much how Dialj works... *g*

Callisto mentioned she'd started working on a story for one of my early BR prompts and I encouraged her to post it anyway. Again, get more stories written, right and... Callisto fic! *g*
I'm still woefully behind on reading the Ficathon entries for my other fandom (50+ stories produced) but then I was planning on wading in to the DIALJ stories. You made me think about it when you mentioned the "Discovered on a gangplank" stories.
