Day 22: Numberless Dreams
Dec. 22nd, 2008 01:12 am.
Erm... I have a different, longer, Christmas story I've been working on for this day, but the weekend blew up on me in rather spectacular and messy ways and the story's not finished. On the advice of friends I decided not to inflict my Bodie/Krycek story on you for Christmas -- Eeek! -- so I wrote something else for you this evening. IF I can find some time to get the longer story finished and edited I'll post it later today. Enough flailing... I'll just wish you all a Happy Christmas and be on my way...

Date: 2008-12-22 08:04 am (UTC)But you gave us back the hope that there is so much more feeling and meaning behind all those expressionless, impersonal Christmas/Birthday greetings from our men... Sigh...
(And I trust you that you always(!) have a muse around! )

Date: 2008-12-22 12:16 pm (UTC)You really feel for him, in all his procrastination and longing ... do say you'll "dash off" a bit of a resolution for 'em, won't you? Maybe Ray will take the bull by the horn(s)! *g*

Date: 2008-12-22 12:25 pm (UTC)This is... fantastic. Absolutely Bodie, with all his doubts and fears, and all those bloody feelings messing with his life :)
And I believe these are poets Bodie knows and enjoy, even if you probably would need to subject him to an endless torture to have him admitting it.
Great, great story, my friend!

Date: 2008-12-22 03:32 pm (UTC)Also, Bodie/Krycek would be *awesome*. Krycek/most people is pretty awesome, but he and Bodie would be so bad-ass and pretty together! And ethically-challenged! And did I mention pretty! Ooh, Bodie/Krycek... :)

Date: 2008-12-22 04:44 pm (UTC)It's so so true to Bodie though, and to the nature of procrastination! Once you've added the bit about what Doyle does about a Christmas greeting to his Bodie, it'll be perfect! (You are doing the follow up, aren't you? Aren't you? Pretty please?!?!?)

Date: 2008-12-22 05:44 pm (UTC)Comical, and so true to life, as his procrastinating was I feel so bad for him. Unless...there's a curly-headed agent in a flat across town having the same Christmas card dilemma...yes?
Ray Doyle never looked the same from one minute to the next
How true is that!
Lovely Petal. And for something that you didn't plan to write - blimmin genius. Of course, now that I'm all sad over Bodie's apparent unrequited love (see - I can't make myself say it without the qualifier - ever the optimistic fluff-bunny!) I'll just have to go in search of some lovely Krycek crossover fic to cheer me up. Wonder where I might find that...
Thanks for this Petal ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 09:36 pm (UTC)I already posted the first story at my LJ, Predator (http://draycevixen.livejournal.com/212839.html). It was written for Biani. I've "tidied it up" since then and a sequel is just writing itself -- Doyle is pissed and demanding it basically.
Thanks for reading. :D

Date: 2008-12-22 09:41 pm (UTC)Well, it sort of leads in to the longer story... Which hopefully will be finished and up soon. Time is so limited, anyone would think it's Christmas or something. *g*
Thanks for reading. ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 09:44 pm (UTC)BK! *twirls you* I'm a huge Yeats fan too... I seem to have developed a bad habit of saddling Bodie with my taste in poets. *g*
Thank you for reading and for the kind words. ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 09:47 pm (UTC)When I sat down to write this is came out as a sort of prequel for the longer story I've been working on... so it sort of already has a resolution, if I can get the damn thing finished. *g*
Thank you for reading! ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 09:52 pm (UTC)It may just be me, but I've known so many people in RL who weren't prepared to risk what they already had to see if it could be even better. A really good friend is a treasure after all.
Thank you, Petal. ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 09:58 pm (UTC)His eyes fascinate me, so why not Bodie too? *g* There will be Bodie/Krycek, but not for Christmas...
Hopefully I can beat *cough* the longer story in to order and get it posted.
Thank you for reading and the kind comments, Petal! ♥

Date: 2008-12-22 10:02 pm (UTC)Well his procrastination might have been a reflection *cough* of how I was feeling. *g*
Bodie/Krycek already exists. It started out as a flashslash and then I expanded it for my lovely mate
Thank you for reading. :D

Date: 2008-12-22 10:05 pm (UTC)I must admit to adapting the way I procrastinate to fit Bodie. My house would never get cleaned properly if it wasn't for my attempts to avoid writing.
Thanks for reading. ♥

First, I have to
killfinish my longer story and then perhaps, Doyle will have a response. *g*no subject

I decided I couldn't deliver B/K for Christmas, although it will be finished and I needed to take the pressure off about finishing my longer Christmas story... although the end is in sight finally. *g*

I think there is an unfortunate tendency to assume that men who don't wear their heart on their sleeve don't have one, but still waters run deep as they used to say.

Date: 2008-12-22 11:49 pm (UTC)Oh god yes, your Bodie dawdling and wandering and making cups of tea and cleaning... I so know where he's coming from *g*
I love the description of Doyle's eyes, and all the detail of Bodie's meanderings, and Yeats! I haven't read Yates in forever, and now I need to *g*
Gorgeous story, thank you.

Date: 2008-12-22 11:53 pm (UTC)Well, I have to admit that a lot of that came from my own procrastination on getting anything written for this. *g*
Thank you for reading and for the lovely comment. ♥
I just crept in under the deadline on my posting day to post a sequel. *scarpers*

Date: 2008-12-23 12:39 am (UTC)Had to laugh at Bodie cutting his nails, because I had to think of sunrays evidence of Bodie's long nails in that cap not long ago!
Signing cards with "from" instead of Love is really my dad, too. He's a retired civil servant and did his share of writing but it was always an effort and he does it in neatly writing; draws the digit 8 with two balls and I haven't seen it done like that rarely around here.

Date: 2008-12-23 12:46 am (UTC)Yep, I think that image of his nails has stuck with me too. *g*
When I realized last night that I was going to have to write something else I caught myself pottering about doing all of those type of things to avoid my computer and so Bodie ended up "sharing" the experience.
I think men used to be even more that way, that while they might feel things deeply they didn't express them.
Thank you for reading, Petal. ♥

Date: 2008-12-23 04:57 am (UTC)When I saw your loving re-crafting (not butchering, I mantain!) of Sonnet 38, I began sporfling like a mad thing. And then I saw Yeats! And Auden! And I'm now typing this comment with a massive grin on my face.
This was very wonderfully done. Writing a Christmas card with the proper sentiment - Bodie definitely isn't the only one suffering this pain! I particularly liked the constant drifting to the minute things - stains on the ceiling, brands of tea, the length of his nails. Definitely the mind of someone putting off a difficult task. *g*
Cheers for the lovely read! And now to read Part II.. *scuttles off*

Date: 2008-12-24 02:35 pm (UTC)Lovely written! I had to snigger a lot about Bodie's way to catch time.
I just can imagine him, sitting and pondering about what to write (or not) on Doyle's christmas card.
Poor Bodie ;) and then he played it safe after all.
I definitely looking forward to a second part ...
Thank you! :)

Catching up
Date: 2009-01-25 02:02 am (UTC)I like how you capture Bodie's thought processes here as he moves from subject to subject in an attempt to put off his writing, and don't we all know how he feels. I also like how this reveals just exactly how he feels for Doyle, showing how he has fallen for him completely. And the style/tone of the writing also captures the distracted thought processes very well. Thank you ♥

Date: 2009-01-25 06:40 am (UTC)Oooh look, you're here! *g*
I gifted *cough* Bodie with some of my own procrastination techniques poor lad.
Thank you for the reading and for the lovely comment. ♥

Date: 2009-10-15 04:48 pm (UTC)Ah yes I'm an "active" procrastinator, I'm getting things done just the *wrong* things and it strikes me that Bodie would be like that too.
Thanks, I'm very glad that you enjoyed it. :D
