Erm... I have a different, longer, Christmas story I've been working on for this day, but the weekend blew up on me in rather spectacular and messy ways and the story's not finished. On the advice of friends I decided not to inflict my Bodie/Krycek story on you for Christmas -- Eeek! -- so I wrote something else for you this evening. IF I can find some time to get the longer story finished and edited I'll post it later today. Enough flailing... I'll just wish you all a Happy Christmas and be on my way...

(Oh, you poor! That’s the way you’re "writing", when there is no muse in sight? :-))

But you gave us back the hope that there is so much more feeling and meaning behind all those expressionless, impersonal Christmas/Birthday greetings from our men... Sigh...

(And I trust you that you always(!) have a muse around! )

*Feels Bodie's Christmas Card agony*

Mind you, I would like to see that Bodie/Krycek thing you've got in the closet sometime *eg.

Oi! Where's the next part?? Resolution, woman! Sheesh. *g* But this was very nice. I like Bodie's struggles, and all that occurs to him. Heh. Thank you!

Sweet and beautiful. You had me at the title, actually, as I'm a huge Yeats fan, especially when he starts going on about dreams (poetic, me!), and I can imagine that Bodie might have a secret soft spot for him too. Loved all the procrastination, and the final result managed to be comic and poignant at the same time.

Oh poor Bodie! (and yeah, this is what you dash off in a moment?!? blimey)

You really feel for him, in all his procrastination and longing ... do say you'll "dash off" a bit of a resolution for 'em, won't you? Maybe Ray will take the bull by the horn(s)! *g*

OMG! So, this is what you write in a rush, when muse is having vacations? *makes plans to send Drayce's muse in a world wide tour*
This is... fantastic. Absolutely Bodie, with all his doubts and fears, and all those bloody feelings messing with his life :)
And I believe these are poets Bodie knows and enjoy, even if you probably would need to subject him to an endless torture to have him admitting it.
Great, great story, my friend!

Well, I must admit, I don't think your muse has gone anywhere. (Actually, I don't have one, but I know others do. *g*) This was very nice. I love all the stress over everything but what he wants to write! The ceiling tile, cutting his nails... It clearly showed Bodie's irritation and distress over what he wants to do and have and say. But in the end, he goes for the matey thing. (Suffer in silence, you prat!) I said that to Bodie. Let's hope he finally writes that ode to love and gives it to Doyle!

Thanks muchly.

Mmmm, I love your descripitons of Doyle and his eyes. You even managed without the limpid pools part *EG* No wonder poor Bodie can't concentrate on anything for long, always coming back to Doyle. I also like all the little bits about the ceiling and stuff you put in. Yes, very nice indeed and what Bodie finally did write was perfect. Oh and the pert arse made me giggle like mad. Thank you for not posting Krycek/Bodie but this little jewel instead *hugs*

Oh, how sweet -- you really feel for Bodie, both being stuck at writing (the procrastination, oh!) and for not being sure how to express his feelings to Doyle. So sweet! *sniffles*

Also, Bodie/Krycek would be *awesome*. Krycek/most people is pretty awesome, but he and Bodie would be so bad-ass and pretty together! And ethically-challenged! And did I mention pretty! Ooh, Bodie/Krycek... :)

I butchered these two opening lines from Shakespeare's Sonnet 38 And you butchered those lines with such panache too! I thought you caught Bodie getting distracted just right - love the way his mind wandered from Ray to the lightshade to the ceiling tile..

Good grief - this is what you dash off when your muse is on leave? What do you do when you're feeling really inspired?
It's so so true to Bodie though, and to the nature of procrastination! Once you've added the bit about what Doyle does about a Christmas greeting to his Bodie, it'll be perfect! (You are doing the follow up, aren't you? Aren't you? Pretty please?!?!?)

Oh gorgeous poetic Bodie. Bless his heart. *sigh*

Comical, and so true to life, as his procrastinating was I feel so bad for him. Unless...there's a curly-headed agent in a flat across town having the same Christmas card dilemma...yes?

Ray Doyle never looked the same from one minute to the next

How true is that!

Lovely Petal. And for something that you didn't plan to write - blimmin genius. Of course, now that I'm all sad over Bodie's apparent unrequited love (see - I can't make myself say it without the qualifier - ever the optimistic fluff-bunny!) I'll just have to go in search of some lovely Krycek crossover fic to cheer me up. Wonder where I might find that...

Thanks for this Petal ♥

Awww, poor Bodie struggling to find the words and then just playing it safe... I'm sure Doyle will love any card from Bodie! *g*
Thank You!

I love Bodie-centred writing with some well-chosen poetry thrown in to demonstrate his finer points (his many layers!) And the last line was just brilliant and equally very Bodie (again, showing how many sides and layers to his character the man has). Thanks for this!

Oh god yes, your Bodie dawdling and wandering and making cups of tea and cleaning... I so know where he's coming from *g*

I love the description of Doyle's eyes, and all the detail of Bodie's meanderings, and Yeats! I haven't read Yates in forever, and now I need to *g*

Gorgeous story, thank you.

Aww, all these nearly relationship beginnings- and this one very sweet- and they all shout for a sequel... I love the very detailed of Bodie's realisations what he had with Doyle.
Had to laugh at Bodie cutting his nails, because I had to think of sunrays evidence of Bodie's long nails in that cap not long ago!

Signing cards with "from" instead of Love is really my dad, too. He's a retired civil servant and did his share of writing but it was always an effort and he does it in neatly writing; draws the digit 8 with two balls and I haven't seen it done like that rarely around here.

Petal! ♥ Oh, how do I love this fic? Let me count the ways...

When I saw your loving re-crafting (not butchering, I mantain!) of Sonnet 38, I began sporfling like a mad thing. And then I saw Yeats! And Auden! And I'm now typing this comment with a massive grin on my face.

This was very wonderfully done. Writing a Christmas card with the proper sentiment - Bodie definitely isn't the only one suffering this pain! I particularly liked the constant drifting to the minute things - stains on the ceiling, brands of tea, the length of his nails. Definitely the mind of someone putting off a difficult task. *g*

Cheers for the lovely read! And now to read Part II.. *scuttles off*

...I'm catching up.... *g*

Lovely written! I had to snigger a lot about Bodie's way to catch time.
I just can imagine him, sitting and pondering about what to write (or not) on Doyle's christmas card.
Poor Bodie ;) and then he played it safe after all.
I definitely looking forward to a second part ...
Thank you! :)

I had to chortle at Bodie's avoidance tactics. And I wanted to shake him at the end. (But the advantage of reading this late is I can now pop over and read the second bit. Hoorah!)

Catching up

Hey, am finally catching up on DIALJ and I have reached your day *dances*.

I like how you capture Bodie's thought processes here as he moves from subject to subject in an attempt to put off his writing, and don't we all know how he feels. I also like how this reveals just exactly how he feels for Doyle, showing how he has fallen for him completely. And the style/tone of the writing also captures the distracted thought processes very well. Thank you ♥

Ahh, I see that you must be as familiar with the way of procrastination as I am, since all of this rings so very true.
Funny, sweet and poignant :)
