Bodie grumbled incoherently as he pushed his bicycle through a field of corn. Doyle, walking briskly up ahead of him with his own bicycle, had a definite spring in his step - and that was only making Bodie grumpier.
Eventually Doyle stopped and turned round. 'This will do nicely,' he said, smiling at his partner and squinting because the sun was directly behind his head. He took off his backpack, and fished inside it for the box of sandwiches he'd brought.
'They better have cheese in them,' Bodie said, sitting down heavily on the ground and wiping his forehead.
'You look a bit hot there, mate.'
Bodie pulled a face. 'Biking trip, you said. Biking! You could have been more specific!'
'I know, but I didn't think you'd turn up in full leathers!'
