This is wonderful. Thank you! And I like the didn'ts even more than the did *g*. So many might-have-beens. I think my favourite's the first one; Doyle the artist, and the way you've woven the canonical version so beautifully into your AU. But after-Syd's a close runner-up. I love the strength of the chemistry between them no matter what else is different, and the feeling in each little glimpse that something's steering them inevitably back round toward the way things 'should' be. They're meant to be together - no escape *g*.
