Bodie and Doyle pounded the streets of London, pulling in long-forgotten favours for answers to their incessant stream of questions. They met informants in pubs and alleyways, using bribery, threats and blackmail to get to the truth. They riled gang bosses, unsettled security chiefs and were single-handedly responsible for discovering the source of a weapons drain within the Ministry of Defence. Their names were feared throughout the capital by anyone with anything to hide. Small children treated them as heroes, housewives swooned over them and the men in charge started putting their affairs in order.

The activities of Bodie and Doyle resulted in the shaking up of CI5, the resignation of the head of MI6, and almost caused a government to fall.

But this is where the story must come to an end, as all of these details are covered by the Official Secrets Act and the file is classified on a 'need to know' basis. Suffice to say that Bodie and Doyle are alive and well, living together somewhere in Dorset with their names and consciences clear of any crimes. Bodie will never see active service again: a bullet in the leg as a parting shot from the outgoing head of MI6 has brought to an end any aspirations in that direction. Doyle, of course, refuses to consider anything that will take him away from Bodie for too long.

My name is Ruth Jones and I am the Controller of CI5. In the rooms and corridors that make up my organisation there are two names that are never spoken out loud. I ensure that they're never forgotten.

Thank you for listening to this story.

housewives swooned over them *snort/giggle/laugh*

And this: In the rooms and corridors that make up my organisation there are two names that are never spoken out loud. I ensure that they're never forgotten.
made me shiver.

I really, really enjoyed your story, though it was quite distracting to F5 lj every now and then. What a fun idea, and amazing that you told such a long story with a minimum of words!

Thanks so much for sharing!

Would you send me a complete version for Proslib, please? Doc or txt attachment fine.

Thanks

Oh, stunning! Ruth is such a great character. Love, love, love that she is Controller. Lads growing old - solving crimes - in lurve. Sigh...Nice.

I'm one of those souls who need some sort of header (in this instance, trailer), so I've read it all in one go.

Wow. Brief, and yet, there's so much story there. Brilliant, concise portrayal of life on the run and an operation susie that really did leave them out in the cold permanently.

Nice to see Ruth heading up CI5 too. I always thought she was a real smart cookie.

Terrific idea and story! Each chapter set its own mood. Loved that Ray was the nervous, on edge partner while Bodie remained cool and calm (on the outside). I really enjoyed this. (and I did figure out that you'd gone off to your own bed after posting the first rounds - very evil that(!), so I didn't miss out on too much sleep last night! *g*)

Thank you, that is very well written and was a suspenseful read! I liked your idea of posting it in chapters - sort of like an advent calendar in an advent calendar *g* Although I read it all in one go, too, too busy yesterday ><

The banners are very nice, too!

I'm all caught up now - although eeeeeeh! I was wondering how it was going to end so quickly, and then The Official Secrets Act! Heeeeee! And yeay for Ruth as Controller, I always did like her... *g* I loved you banners with each one too - it took me a while to realise that some were different, and then I had to go back and see which ones! *g* They're very pretty though, and the wee thin end ones... *g* Thank you!

Have now read all the chapters and enjoyed each one. I like the way each chapter just emphasizes how uncertain their lives are and how they have to move around, and their gradual move to a relationship especially as they realise they belong together. And the framing chapters are great as well. Thanks ♥

Terrific! I hoped that Ruth was on their side when she called to warn them. This was a fun way to while away three days, because that's how long it took me to read them all. Perhaps next year my life will allow a bit more free time for important things *G*.

Wonderful story. I'm glad that Ruth is now the head of CI5, but wondering if she was involved in Cowley's death somehow. Nah! She wouldn't. Although she did know that only Bodie and Doyle could come back and sort out the big mess with MI6, the MoD, and dodgy Ministers.

Our Heroes!!

Thank you for a great read that kept me on the edge of my seat.

That was well done. I enjoyed the way you told the story in scenes and I'm so happy the boys were together. It's grand that things worked out, and that they lived to retire quietly off on their own. Thank you!

I really enjoyed that.

I loved the way the chapters flowed together yet there were time gaps between that just fed our imaginations.

... and thank you for the happy ever after. *blissful sigh*

Interesting setting! Bodie and Doyle (luckily together) but on the run! As said before I too like the style to tell the story in scenes, Ruth as controller. Thank you for an exciting read!
