I was going to post on the shortest day, but I shall now post on the longest night, and maybe that's better after all, because this is a long-ish story too...

Two on a Treasure Island - by Slantedlight
(I'll try and get it up in other formats too, but right now AH is just not playing nicely...)

Notes: Thank you to Mags and Wendy, who came away on gorgeous Dorset holidays, and to Angel for sanity-reading along the way. And thank you to Enid Blyton, although she may have wished I hadn't... *g*

Date: 2010-12-22 07:19 am (UTC)Also I just reread your story "Never the words they Say". It was one of the first slash fics that I read and made me want to read more. I couldn't remember what it was called but knew it was on the Hatstand so strolled through all the Author Stories to find it. It was as good as I remembered it. Loved the dialogue and the Village life. Could there be a sequel with older lads? Anyway this time I've pdfed it and saved to the ipad, so it won't be so difficult to find again.

Date: 2010-12-22 08:46 am (UTC)And eeh, I'm so glad you liked Never the Words they Say as well - and very chuffed that it made you want to read more Pros slash too! I did wonder at the time about writing sequels to that story, and there's a bit of an idea for one still lurking around the back of my head, so it's not impossible that I'll write more of them up there... Though it seems so long ago, now!

Date: 2010-12-22 09:17 am (UTC)Bodie with his 'old boys' and Doyle starting to get rather annoyed with all the old mob coming out of the woodwork by the end of it was good fun.
I could definitely see Bodie and Doyle buying Burt's pub and settling down there, with a sideline of treasure hunting. *g*
Thanks for such a fun story!

Date: 2010-12-22 03:18 pm (UTC)I just adore the present-day lads, their banter, their concern and their love for each other.
Your writing style is beautiful and just draws you into the thick of the action ... whether it be the mystery, the trauma or the sex. Just brilliant!

Date: 2010-12-22 10:08 pm (UTC)Theme - older Lads - not really my favorite, but you made me love it - good on you!
Action - nothing slows these guys down, not even somewhat creaky bones and truculent, slimy M w/o P's.
Love - ah, sweet, sexy, believable, and hot.
The denouement - fancy buying a pub? Yeah - that's the ticket, Sunshine!
Upshot - love, love, love it!

Date: 2010-12-27 08:09 pm (UTC)I enjoyed every bit of it, and love the fact that their intelligence and fitness and competence doesn't just vanish because they're no longer young - they are the age they are, without sugar-coating, but without ceasing to be themselves, as tough and able and uncompromising as ever. And in love... and people around them mostly accepting that *g*
Thank you so much for a huge feast of delights. I think I shall start having withdrawal symptoms soon, now the holiday banquet is drawing to a close... (oh I wish it could be winter-solstice every da-a-a-ay.... *bg*)

Date: 2011-01-02 09:16 am (UTC)ETA - and I meant to say (having only thought it in words later... *headdesk*) that I'm extra glad it worked as Famous Five, cos it was actually quite tricky to leave some things out, effectively, that were such big parts of the original story - Uncle Quentin, for instance, and Aunt Fanny! They had to be substituted for, rather than included, and I was a bit worried that wouldn't work, but... yeay!

I've just dipped in to the first couple of pages and made happy squeaking noises, and I'm now saving it for when I've got proper time to enjoy it. Thank you ever so, in case I forget to say so later *g*

Date: 2011-01-07 04:48 pm (UTC)I read it on my new Kindle and was thrilled to be able to curl up with it on the ferry back from Rotterdam.
Totally off-topic - where do we leave feedback for Lizzie? I read her Nice Boys on the Kindle, too, and have got confused as to where I got it from (the story, not the Kindle) but seem to remember you posting it on her behalf.

Date: 2011-01-07 11:02 pm (UTC)As for feedback to Lizzie - if you leave it to her story at Dialj (which is here, of course *g* (http://community.livejournal.com/discoveredinalj/195481.html)) then I'll be sure to direct her to the post so that she can see it and respond (sadly she's not active in Pros any more - though I live in eternal hope!)

Date: 2011-01-08 10:18 am (UTC)My life being as it it ::rolls eyes, shakes fist:: I'm about three quarters of the way through, and loving it to bits - I also tend to read slower when I enjoy something *g* It's a bit weird to read about places I know though *g*, but great fun.

Date: 2011-01-08 12:50 pm (UTC)And *waaah* about Lizzie not writing any more. Will leave feedback in the hope that it helps in the persuasion effort.
