My turn, my turn! *g*
It’s been lovely having little Pros-y gifts every day for the last month – Pros fandom is full of some of the nicest, most generous people I’ve ever met. Not to mention blooming talented! So thank you to everyone.
I’ve got a couple of bits of artwork for you, which I’ll post later, but as that didn't seem quite enough, I’m going to begin today by cheating a tad. Hush *g*
Back in the summer, I wanted to do some quick artwork to try out a new font. As I was re-reading JoJo’s 'Love in a Cold Country' at the time, that’s what I played about with, and then used it when reccing the story in CI5HQ’s mini review challenge. So I thought I’d start today by repeating my post, because it’s a fabulous story, stuffed full with the things I love most about the lads and how they’re written in fandom. Plus – snow! Loads and loads of lovely white snow.
Love in a Cold Country

It’s one of my all-time favourite comfort reads: there's freezing, snow-covered countryside; Bodie hurt, and stuck out in the open under fire; and Doyle trying to cope with the situation, whilst dealing with tragic memories of the past overlapping the present. It's also slash, of the sweetest, hottest kind. Understated, fabulous descriptions, lovely dry humour, Bodie with a beard... what’s not to love? My favourite line involves the beard... "Up close the new look lent Bodie the air of a particularly disenchanted and sleep-deprived Italian fisherman."
See!

Date: 2012-12-29 02:53 pm (UTC)It's a gorgeous story and I love it to bits, so it makes me really happy to jump up and down and point at it - any excuse really ♥ Thank you again for writing it, and totally, if you'd like the artwork, it's all yours. *beams*

Date: 2012-12-29 05:15 pm (UTC)Thank you! It's such a great story, plus all that snow makes it perfect for this time of year - though it's kind of wishful thinking as all we've got here is rain on rain... ick!

Date: 2012-12-29 05:20 pm (UTC)It all kind of fitted with the type face I was fiddling about with - well, in my tiny mind anyway *g* But it's really just an excuse to wave my arms and point at one of my favourite stories... if only I could have figured out a way to give Bodie a beard!

Date: 2012-12-29 06:59 pm (UTC)Colour and font are beautiful, also the 'letter effect' - not to mention the two lads. :-)
Of course I use it as header for the story on my Kindle.
- off to reread it.
Thank you!

Date: 2012-12-29 09:01 pm (UTC)It's such a great comfort read, and especially for this time of year when it seems there ought to be snow (and gorgeous blokes snogging in it *g*).
And thank you for your lovely comment.

Date: 2012-12-29 09:08 pm (UTC)Thank you! I feel a bit cheeky, regurgitating an old post and old artwork to go with it, but it seemed so in keeping with the wintry theme, I couldn't resist *g*

Date: 2013-01-09 08:59 pm (UTC)It's a wonderful story, and one of my top comfort reads, so it's lovely to get the chance to wave and point at it again *beams*
Thank you for your lovely comments, and so sorry to have taken a month of Sundays to reply - LJ's repeated hissy fits got the better of me for a while there *g*

Date: 2013-01-09 09:09 pm (UTC)I'm so sorry luv - LJ didn't bother to give me a notification of your message, so I've only just seen it. And I have no idea why my posts were members-locked - I'm pretty sure I didn't choose that option, so maybe it defaults because my journal is friends-locked? I have no idea *g*
Anyhow, I think I've changed it okay, but of course now I've broken your links to the calendar... shall I just go out and shoot myself now, or would you lie to skin me alive later? *hg*

Date: 2013-01-09 09:37 pm (UTC)I have no idea how changing the security wiped out the tags though - you should have just been able to edit the security to public rather than members, and it shouldn't have affected anything else! Never mind, I'll go and put them back... *g*

LJ is doing odd things again today, so maybe it's just another symptom... gosh, I hope it settles down soon.

Date: 2013-01-09 09:42 pm (UTC)Tags are all back now - yeay! And thanks for unlocking, by the way (I think it is a thing about having your individual lj flocked - all your posts are flocked elsewhere by default as well... It' s definitely not just you, every now and then over the past few years I've had to ask people to unlock posts that they'd never intended to lock at a comm!)

Date: 2013-01-09 09:47 pm (UTC)Yeah, you're right - it's not just poor old LJ - I've got other sites that are being odd this evening, and one of my other Gmail accounts is messing about. Grrrr!
Thanks for trying to get to the bottom of the locking thing - I don't recall it ever happening before, but maybe I've just not noticed it elsewhere. At least I now know to double-check in future.
