What I'm assuming is that Ray didn't get a full dose. The dart had to penetrate his jeans and he only felt a sting, which meant the dart fell out almost immediately. He was moving, which means that the tranquilizer would have more effect and faster, but then again it hit his leg versus anywhere closer to his heart. Six of one, half a dozen of another. And it's perfectly reasonable to assume Bodie would exaggerate.
I read up on tranquilizer overdoses - pretty scary! In one sense, I think Ray's lucky he was unconscious for all the excitement.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story! I have a feeling Bodie was doing the tongue thing at the end on purpose. Just like he was *trying* to do with the grapes, but Doyle was being oblivious. ;-)
