In 2001, Nut Hatch-Entropy published a beautifully bound volume called The Professionals: Stop the Presses, which comprises several hundred (it looks like, but I'm not going to count them!) pages of photocopied media articles based around Pros. It's long been out of print, and of course the article copyrights belong elsewhere, and I've been meaning to share for ages, because some of the articles are quite fun (though not always very clearly copied). So, I've taken photographs, and like little snowflakes, I'm going to shower them down on you over to course of the day. Of course my original plan was to start showering around 9am, but it's been a day and a half already...
Today is actually an Extra Content Day (aka no one claimed it!), and so everyone is also invited to join in and post any articles they may have lying around about our lads and the show - please do, it'll be fun! *g*
My first offering is connected to these pictures, posted a few days ago by

watteaux at
the_safehouse, from the Mark IV dvd Ojuka gallery...
There they are, crooning along together, the girl on the left listening dreamily...

And here's my first article from Stop the Presses:
(You can click to get a much bigger size for easier reading).
Nip down to the bold writing in the fifth column that says "I love challenges, and this was certainly a challege", and just under the paragraph about MS also going into song and dance when the series ended, and read on:
"I always maintain we should have done something musical together. In between almost every scene we filmed for The Professionals we were forever sitting in our caravan singing duets of old Everly Brothers hits."
And an added bonus:
Lewis says that he and Martin have become much better friends since they finished work on the series two years ago. "We started out like cat and dog," he says. "But we have now become good mates." *g*
(Also, I don't remember seeing that pic of LC in the bow tie before either, although it's been ages since I browsed through the Unofficial LC fansite - I just wish it was the actual pic, not a photocopy!)

Gorgeous pictures, even though they are just photocopies.
Thanks so much for sharing!

It's newspapers - so no, definitely not! But I like to believe some things... *g*

Date: 2016-12-06 11:01 pm (UTC)Lot of it has the sound of a pretty grounded bloke trying to make sense of some pretty weird behaviour. Nobody sane ever thinks they're the fairest of them all - we all see the warts in the mirror - even if we know the overall effect is pretty devastating.
The journalist will have spun the interview to fit the required frame, and it's a puff piece to sell a special, but I think there's a lot of truth in there.
I must admit I never got the adoring fan thing, but I've certainly hung around with folk who had it bad.
(Also, I think the unofficial LC site might just be the official LC site these days....)

Date: 2016-12-07 12:37 am (UTC)Quite right about the LC site - I don't visit very often, cos it's Pros rather than the separate actors that I like best. Will correct when I'm awake again in the morning - eventually!

Goodness, I think I'd have to be rescued and resuscitated, if LC had emerged from my local swimming pool. *g*
As much as I'd like to take credit for those great Ojuka pics, I think they were posted by

Date: 2016-12-07 01:03 am (UTC)I'm not sure it's worth the angst!
I like actors - in the same way as GJ likes them - as technicians and artisans. I could chat for hours to a favourite actor about their craft - but the characters are something I can fall in love with.
You can know a character as intimately as a sibling, but the actor remains a stranger (unless you happen to be acquainted with them too!).
So it's Pros for me as well :0)

Date: 2016-12-07 01:13 am (UTC)I particularly like Lew mentioning how far removed from the tough guy image he really was, and how to respond to people expecting him to behave in a certain way made him nervous. I gather, also from other interviews, that he was really a private person deep down, and that he only enjoyed the sudden fame he had for a little while before becoming bored and all...
