100 word Drabble for Discovered in Yuletide Spirit - 3 January 2020, with a prompt of 'Cider'

He was soaking wet and freezing. Stupid sod.

"Come in and get this down you."

His eyebrows shot up, "Wow, that's good. What is it?"

I grinned, "Haven't you ever had mulled cider before?"

"No. Most I got at Christmas was a thick ear," he mumbled before taking another sip.

"I'll go and run you a hot bath before you turn into a popsicle. Dinner'll be ready for you when you're out of there."

"Thanks, Ray. You're a real mate."

As I made my way to the bathroom, I felt a warm glow inside and I hadn't touched a drop.

My class read an abridged edition of Cider with Rosie when I was in, like, 8th grade. It was okay.

Skip to 1980, when my mother and sister and I took a trip to England and France and, on the England leg, spent a while in a b&b plus local tours place owned by a woman named, I think, Blatchley, who did not conceal her contempt for American education or her adoration for Laurie Lee. "So poetic," she rhapsodized. Okay.

Anyway, what a cute story! Thank you.

I read it as a kid too. I don't have particularly fond memories of it, despite it being considered a 'classic' by many! The title did stick in my mind for some reason though...

Re your 'mod' question. I'm sorry, I can't remember what I did. As I think I have mentioned before, I find LJ a bit of an enigma, so it's more than likely that I clicked on something random (and invariably incorrect) to post this. However, I can't remember to tell you what it was that I clicked on! Soz
