The Best Is Yet To Come

After an assignment that had almost gone wrong (Anson would be walking around with a cast on his arm for the next six weeks, doing phone duty), Mr Cowley had sent Bodie and Doyle home for the next three days. Not without giving them the advice to "use the days wisely". Okay, he probably had other things on his mind than Bodie and Doyle. Anyway, the next morning found them in the kitchen.
Doyle stood with his head in the fridge, looking for milk and butter while waiting for the tea water to boil on the cooker

while Bodie put the sheets and some towels in the new washing machine.

"You know what, Ray? I'm really happy that we finally have our own washing machine. It was getting almost embarrassing having to take the sheets to the dry cleaners every day." Bodie said with a happy chuckle. "And what should I use for the washing? ATA or Fewa?"

"It's Fewa", Doyle answered. "You use ATA to clean the floor. And if you don't remember that you can clean the floor until you learn it. Now come and eat, tea is ready."

They had been eating breakfast for a while when Doyle suddenly said, "Bodie, I've got an idea. We should make good use of our days off, shouldn't we?"
"Yes, that's what Cowley told us."
"What do you say we finally get round to finalizing our second professional foothold? We're not getting any younger and it never hurts to think about the future now."
"What do you have in mind, Ray?"
"Glasses, plates, cups, cutlery. Everything we still need."
"Huh? We have a fully equipped flat." Bodie looked at him, confused.
"Not for the flat, Bodie. For the pub." Ray beamed. "Let's go to the jumble sale and see what we can find."

Twenty minutes later they were at the stands and couldn't get enough of them.
There were kettles and coffee pots,

coffee sets

and glasses galore.

There was also beautiful cutlery.

After more than five hours of shopping, they happily made their way back home with a full car boot. They only stopped briefly at the Chinese restaurant to get a takeaway.

"Come on, Bodie, the food's getting cold". Doyle sat with his back against the sofa and opened the food containers. "What do you want first, sweet and sour or duck?"
"Duck and a beer", Bodie replied and put the glasses with beer on the table. "I'll just switch on the TV."
He came back and sat next to Doyle on the fur.

After they had eaten, they cuddled up to each other on the fur in front of the sofa. "Oh, Doyle, it's going to be great with my bar," Bodie said. "You mean with my café," Doyle replied.
"No, with our coffee bar," Bodie corrected him. "Now shut up and watch this new series. It's really good."
And so they sat there, dreaming of their pub, coffee bar, or whatever it would become, watching television.

And here is a close shot of the program they watched. *g*
