Hello! [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight was insane kind enough to invite me to be [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj’s guest challenger for June.

So, welcome to the Discovered Out of Context challenge.

Today, and on the next two Sundays, I will be posting lists of quotations from 1970s films, television programmes and songs, that will hopefully inspire you to write some wonderful stories. How to play and the first set of quotations are under the cut.

My heartfelt thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] schnuffi for taking my rudimentary banner, inserting the lovely lads and polishing the whole thing up. ♥

How to play

1) Read the quotations.

2) Curse my name.

3) Get a brilliant story idea despite my best efforts.

4) Write!

Although I will be posting three lists of quotations over the course of the month you’re welcome to respond to any of the quotations at any time.

You may choose to write only one story… or perhaps to write a drabble for every quotation. There is no limitation on how many prompts you may choose to answer.

Length: No set requirement. Drabbles and epic tomes equally welcome!

Posting date: Fire when ready! As I'm really hoping that some of you, particularly the drabble!meisters, will pick up more than one prompt, let's start enjoying the ficcage as soon as we can.

Header information: Or rather "footer" information. As there are a lot of Pros fans who prefer their stories to be spoiler free, [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj asks that you put the following information at the end of your story, under the cut, rather than at the top. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Notes: Including warnings if you really wish to - these are not compulsory.

The challenge will remain open for the entire month of June. It will close at midnight 30th June, 2008 in whatever time zone you happen to be in... with the usual quick trips to Pago Pago allowed as always.

If you have any further questions, please comment.

Ok, I've done no.1, and no.2 is done on a daily basis anyway, so no change there *g*

3 & 4 may prove to be a bit more elusive, but I've printed off the quotes and I'll give it a go!

Ah, Drayce, you know when I say that 'I'll give it a go' I actually mean 'I will suspend RL until the deadline and God help anyone who gets in my way'.... right? Just so you know ;)

Drabbles! *hides from the drabbles*

Not sure if I can manage either longfic or drabbles for this (shorter fics take me more time because I think and revise so much), but an average 10,000 word shortfic I would definitely love to do. I've penciled it into my itinerary! *JK. I have no itinerary.*

Yeahs! But now that I've found my spiritual home, will I be able to afford the mortgage payments? (I have also been told by several people that I have a very old soul. I got it at a rummage sale, you see).

Beats me all to hell. I thought short fic meant 5,000 words. Hunh.

Great idea, thanks! Darn, I've already done one with Catch-22 but it's under wraps, possible zine-type story. Loads of possibilities here ... brilliant to have so many to choose from (and more to come, yay!)

Oh god, I've done it, I decided to write *something* at least for one of the quotes. There may be more, depending!

curses [livejournal.com profile] draycevixen loudly and longly What a great idea!

Well, thank you. I'm now backed up against the wall trying to fight off a marauding mass of rampant bunnies with a chicken leg (which they can strip to the bone in milliseconds, it turns out).

Seriously, what a completely fab idea for a challenge this is! Thinking cap is now firmly in place.
