Welcome to the third and final part of the Discovered Out of Context challenge.
To those of you who have already posted a story, thank you! Of course, if you feel moved to write another story, we will not stand in your way. *flexes titanium pokey stick*
PLEASE bear in mind, that even IF a prompt has already been used, you are still welcome to use the same prompt.
If you would like to be reminded how to play and/or look at the first list of quotations again go HERE.
The second list of quotations is HERE
Please feel free to use any of the prompts from any one of the three lists at any time.
As this is my last list of quotations, and the quotations are from songs, I thought it might be fun to link you to performances of the songs in question. If you click on the title/band name it should link you to a youtube video. I tried, whenever possible, to make it an actual concert performance by the original artist(s). I hope looking at the unfortunate fashion choices is as much fun for you as it was for me! *g*
Thank you and I hope you’ve had fun. The challenge will remain open until the end of June.
Quotations from Songs of the 1970s
I keep your picture upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lyin' there
So don't you ask me to give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me. I’m Not in Love – 10cc
Brand new dandy
First class scene stealer
Walks through the crowd and takes your man. Down to Zero – Joan Armatrading
I could love you but why begin it
'Cos there ain't any future in it. Bye bye baby – Bay City Rollers
Take a look at the lawman beating
Up the wrong guy. Life on Mars – David Bowie
You’re upstairs with the boyfriend while I’m left here to listen.
I hear you calling his name, I hear the stutter of ignition.
I could hear you whispering as I crept by your door.
So you found some other joker who could please you more. I’m Not Angry – Elvis Costello
Well if we can help you we will,
You’re looking tired and ill.
As I count backwards
Your eyes become heavier still. Entangled -- Genesis
Maybe you’ll get a replacement
There’s plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain’t got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – Elton John
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion-
I see the torch we all must hold. The Rain Song – Led Zeppelin
Ooh you're the best friend that i ever had
I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine and i want you to know
That my feelings are true. You’re My Best Friend -- Queen
Sometimes I’m sexy, move like a stud
Kicking the stall all night
Sometimes I’m so shy, got to be worked on
Don’t have no bark or bite, alright. Bitch – Rolling Stones
Loneliness is a crowded room
Full of open hearts turned to stone. Dance Away – Roxy Music
And it won't even show
And no-one will know
One little wave
To say you'll behave. Everyday -- Slade
Don't talk to me of shattered dreams
Of course you don't know what it means
To live for someone else you can't just take. Wild Wild Angels -- Smokie
I’d beg for some forgiveness
But begging’s not my business. Up the Junction -- Squeeze
I’m reaching out for something
Touching nothing’s all I ever do. Ballroom Blitz -- Sweet
Fiery skies in children eyes
Fade into youth bleeding blood and tears. All Alone – T. Rex
I wasn’t born so much as I fell out
Nobody seemed to notice me
We had a hedge back home in the suburbs
Over which I never could see. Lost in the Supermarket – The Clash
I first felt a fist, and then a kick
I could now smell their breath
They smelt of pubs and wormwood scrubs
And too many right wing meetings. Down in the Tube Station at Midnight – The Jam
You think that life's a vacation
And you've no inclination
To dust away the cobwebs of your mind.
Now it's time for confrontation
And I'm tired of being patient,
So I've got to be cruel to be kind. The Hard Way – The Kinks
No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyesBehind Blue Eyes – The Who

Date: 2008-06-15 02:57 pm (UTC)Whatever gave you that idea? *bats eyelashes* Actually, Sweet was already on the list. I had about 17 of the quotations I needed and was looking for more. When you posted the Smokie vid it gave me another, so thanks!
Not even a drabble? Hmmm? From 60 quotations? Isn't this the week that they're skipping Pros Watch? *pokes gently*

Date: 2008-06-15 03:02 pm (UTC)Are you trying to say I'm a Sherpa for Laundry Mountain? Although "because it was there" certainly works! *g*
And yeah! You mentioned my personal faves on this list.
I started by sitting down and making a list of the groups/artists who immediately sprang to mind for me when I thought of the 70s. Then I went looking for the lyrics... and had to forego a few and pick some others. Then, of course, the inevitable trips to youtube began. At which point I decided I *had* to link them! :D
I hope you've managed to stick a flag in the top of laundry mountain by now -- probably fashioned from clean underpants I would imagine.
*prods you with pokey stick to wake you up*
