Day 29 - Offering the Second...
Dec. 29th, 2008 10:46 amOh blimey, I’m cheating again!
This is a drabble that has been lingering on my hard drive for longer than I care to remember and has never seen the light of day. There’s nothing Christmassy about it, other than the fact that it comes from me to you with the compliments of the season.
‘ang abaht, though... Supposing I ask you to picture an East End pub, where the Christmas Eve festivities are in full swing? And a couple of CI5 agents have gone there for a quiet Christmas drink... There, now it is a Christmas fic! *g*
When she walked in every head in the place turned, and Doyle stared just like everybody else.
She was stunning, vivacious, expensively dressed and totally out of place in an East End pub like this.
With a sinking heart he realised that she personified what he'd always thought of as 'Bodie's Type'. He turned to where his partner was sitting and watched Bodie cast a cursory glance at the woman before settling his gaze, and a contented smile, firmly upon him.
'Bodie's Type' she may well have been once upon a time. But now it seemed that time was past.

Date: 2008-12-29 02:00 pm (UTC)Thanks. I always appreciate a 'story' fully told in a drabble, and you've one that here. It's an example of how drabbles should be done.

Date: 2008-12-29 02:21 pm (UTC)Does a lovely job of capturing a whole story in a moment; she was Bodie's type once all right ... but not any more. Happy glow for Doyle, and for us! Thank you!

Date: 2008-12-30 02:26 am (UTC)The repetition of the "Bodie's type" phrase really works nicely. *g*

Date: 2009-01-26 09:31 pm (UTC)And don't worry about being late - I've still got more than half of the Christmassy fics to read myself!
