A little later than planned, but before the stroke of midnight, rummaging around in the stocking we found this...

...and if you click on the link below, you'll find that there's something behind that rather lovely artwork as well...

The Dialj Christmas Special 2009

Small, but rather beautifully formed - four Pros stories in an online zine for your Boxing Day laziness...

Happy Christmas!

And do feel free to leave individual feedback here for the authors and artist - they're all online and will hopefully see it!

Ahh, you did it! Well done in making the deadline! I do think you should have a nice, relaxing Boxing Day now! *g*

Oh! And I've only read one of the stories so far--yours! *g* (Yes, I'm going backwards.) Partner worry! You know how I love partner worry! So thank you for that. It was lovely and just the right length to keep me up much too late last night. (Which is rather delightful on Christmas.) I'll read the others today--and comment!

Thank you!

Pauses

Okay! Just finished "Pauses". I always enjoy stories where they are dealing with the aftereffects of the job. And I like this one where Doyle's temper and despair switches off as soon as he realizes that Bodie has his own nightmares and aftereffects to deal with. That's partner worry, of a sort. *g* Partner care, at any rate.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] angel_ci5! A lovely addition to the zine!

Thank you for such a lovely present - a real zine to keep! Love the cover picture, and can't wait to read the fics.

Edit at 2.15pm: My after-lunch indulgence (being back at work today) was to read the first 2 fics. Wonderful! Two gripping, tightly-written glimpses of the harshness of the lads' lives, and how their mutual love and support is what keeps them alive and half sane. Great dialogue from [livejournal.com profile] angelci5, and brilliant portrayal of the lads reading each others' thoughts so well. I haven't knowingly read any of KWS before, but I adored this, grasping my tea-mug and forgetting to drink with the suspense of it. And I so love 'can-do' lads, making use of whatever is available, even old farm machinery. *g*

I've sent personal LOCs to the folks I know, but for these two authors, I'm posting here and hope they see it:

Pauses by Angel CI5: Talkin' dirty is so darned hot. LOL! Really nice. Doyle's brooding and Bodie's determination to bring him around. In the end they plan to go off on the bikes and work through it together. Thanks.

In Faith and Fear by KWS: I admit my kink for "riding to the rescue" fic. I don't care who does the rescuing either, so this story was just ticket. I enjoyed it a lot.

Hi Kat - I'm glad you enjoyed my story (I'm KWS for archiving & such - there are a few kiwisue's out there & I didn't want anyone else blamed for my scribblings).

Unfortunately I didn´t have time yet to read anything but it´s already saved and ready for me to read when the busy times are over. What I can say though is that the artwork is breathtaking and very promising for what is about to come. Thank you guys for contributing and putting it together, it´s such a wonderful X Mas gift!

Thank you for this beautiful zine. Just finished it.

Pauses by Angel CI5: Doyle saying sorry twice in as many minutes – once *wrapped in a sheepish smile* – and talking dirty was perfect.
In Faith and Fear by KWS: Love the way Bodie's warming Doyle up between his legs and giving him his gloves and balaclava:-)
Key Change by PFL: So sweet, Bodie waiting in Doyle's flat to be as near to him as possible. I enjoyed reading.
Doubt Thou by Slantedlight: How clever to reveal only on page two who actually got married! I like longer fic, and this was gripping from the start, very well done, especially the crypt scenes.
