Back on familiar ground – a Christmassy drabble for you...
It was an unremarkable Christmas card. There was nothing fancy or expensive about it. In fact, it wasn't much different to hundreds of others that Ray Doyle had seen in his thirty-odd Christmasses.
Inside was just a pre-printed "Merry Christmas" and the strong, neat signature that he knew so well. There were no flowery sentiments, no declarations of undying love, no kisses on the bottom.
Doyle didn't mind. It was nothing less than he'd expected; flowery sentiments and loving declarations weren't Bodie's style.
And as for the kisses on the bottom...
Doyle smiled.
He knew he'd be getting those later...
