Since our mates in Australia are already in the throes of the ides of March (the 15th) we're ready for a new challenge that will run through April 15th (deadline midnight your time or in Pago Pago if you need a few extra minutes) which has a few nightmares associated with it as well, not the least of which is the fact it’s the deadline for filing taxes in the US!

So I’ve dusted, hoovered, polished the family silver, and the Robeau Kitties have been brushed to a soft, silky shine, so we’re ready for whatever comes our way. You see the DiaLj mods, in a weak moment, agreed to turn DiaLj over to me for a turn as guest host! And Byslantedlight was kind enough to lend a helping hand by creating the lovely but rather "it was a dark and scary night" type banner. Totally appropriate for this rather dark challenge I've come up with.

It all started while I was reading a favorite author's latest book (Archer Mayor 'The Price of Malice')that I received as a Christmas pressie. He has a lovely line early on that screamed Pros to me: "(S)he knew that much from sleeping beside his nightmares". It occurred to me that with the life our lads lead they’re likely to encounter a nightmare or two, and they might even learn something about each other if they happened to be around (hint, hint) to disrupt the nightmare with a familiar voice or a gentle touch. So silly me, I sent off an email wondering if the overworked DiaLj mods ever took in a suggestion or two. I know, I know, be careful what you ask for...

Anyway, based on a brief, thoroughly nonscientific, review of medical literature it appears nightmares can be caused by many things including, but not limited to: too much alcohol; lack of sleep; stress and traumatic events. So it’s a wonder anyone in CI5 ever gets a good night's sleep! I am a firm believer that there is a good nightmare or two to be found in every Pros episode, so I’ll be happy to provide a prompt if you’d like – either from an episode or a specific pros event. Or perhaps this would be a good chance to exorcise that pesky nightmare that wakes you before dawn every now and again.

So the Cow has an assignment for you: Create stories, vids, art, poetry, whatever your muse inspires you to do about the lads and their scary dreams (and don't forget the controller and the other operatives who undoubtedly have had a few nightmares courtesy of our troublesome twosome). A gentle reminder that the header/warnings/spoilers are to be put under a cut at the end of your post.

Drop a note if you’d like to play, even if you don’t need a prompt, so we know how many glasses of hot milk to prepare. And the Robeau-kitties stand ready to stretch out on your pillow and purr loudly to chase away your nightmares!

what a great idea for a challenge :) And love the banner. Heh, always did think that hospital was a bit of nightmare, not having any medical equipment in it and all *g* Go on then, as April 15th is practically next year, give us a prompt!

Yes please - I'd like a prompt! (Though I might cheat and incorporate it into something else a bit nightmare-ish that I've got on the boil... *g*) And yeay - thanks for being our guest challenger this month! *vbg*

A guest host - how exciting!

But I think that's about it from me, seeing as how over at [livejournal.com profile] crimeandcricket our first ever Raffles/Bunny challenge is "The Ides of March" (and that's the deadline), so I'm a bit Ides-d out right now.

I'll just stroke the Robeau kitties, if they don't bite my hands off, and wait with keen anticipation.

Oooh, I can totally relate to this (my best (original) stories seem to start out as nightmares!) - I'd love a prompt.

(And it might take my mind off the big bang...)
