Well, I did say there'd be another challenge shortly... *g* It's that time of year again - November! - when the nights have drawn in, the shops are starting to twinkle, and we really should be thinking about... well, the lads, obviously. *g* And this year, they're...
Discovered in the Fairylights!

The calendar, of course, is for people to claim their own day to contribute to our Christmas/Winter/December/lovely lights challenge - comment below to say which day you would like, I will bags the day for you using your icon, and you are then free to post anything (Pros-y!), and as much as you like on that day as a treat for our flists. Here's last year's first post and completed calendar if you'd like to see how it worked. Click on any of the icons in the calendar to take you to the post that lj-user made. *g*
Posts can be anything - fic, art, vids, thoughts, games, competitions... anything at all. If you'd like some inspiration, there's not only Discovered in a Christmas Stocking, but Discovered in the Mistletoe, Discovered in the Brandybutter and Discovered Whilst A-Carolling to wander around... Your post doesn't have to be Christmas-y at all, it can be winter-ish, cosy-warm for a cold December night with the lads, a general party for the long evenings, or even anti-Christmas if you like - it's all just a very good reason to encourage the light back by posting gorgeous Pros-iness, every day in December and beyond... Prompts this year and shiny but simple - they're the colour of the fairylight that your chosen day lands on, if you'd like a prompt at all!
Every year so far we've managed to fill the calendar with gorgeous offerings of Pros-y goodness, so it'd be fab if we could do it again. For this one challenge only, because it's complicated posting across different time zones when people might want to post more than once on their day, we stick to Lad's time - in other words, GMT/UTC - follow the link for a handy timezone converter if you're not sure.
If you find you've claimed a day and you can't post after all, that's okay, these things happen - just drop me a line at slantedlight at g maildot com as soon as you can and let me know, and I'll post up some extra content for the day instead. Life happens (good life as well as emergencies!) and we all know that, and it's nice to be able to substitute rather than having a blank day. *g*
As ever, I'm also happy to post for you, if you'd rather not do it yourself for any reason (such as Christmas being a hugely busy time for many people, or if you don't have a livejournal account) And if you'd like to offer "extra content" that can be slotted into days nobody has claimed/someone's had an emergency that would be gratefully received as well, via my email above!
What else... Please use our normal trailer, found on the User Info page - just cut and paste it to the end of your post, under the lj cut (so that no one has to be spoiled if they'd rather not be), obviously filling in the important bits... *g* Warnings etc are never compulsory here - that's entirely up to you - the most helpful thing about the trailer (and it's original raison d'etre) is the archiving information, whether you're happy for ProsLib and/or (hopefully one day!) Circuit Archive to archive your creation.
Please sign up as soon as possible (so that we can organise for whatever days appear to be empty etc) but feel free to sign up any time the comm is running – if you're suddenly inspired on 16th December to post on the 17th, and it's still an empty day, then comment below and go for it! Oh, except that the 25th is already full of Christmas-y goodness… sorry! And if there are spaces going free and we're getting closer to the date, but you've already claimed one day - feel free to claim a second day too... *g*
So... I hope that's everything - feel free to ask if you've any questions, or are unsure about anything, and otherwise... Would anyone like to play under the fairylights? *g*

Date: 2010-11-01 09:12 pm (UTC)Can I have 1 January please? I feel a bit presumptuous bagging that particular day, so if anyone else *really needs* New Year's day, I don't mind going a day or two either side.

Date: 2010-11-01 09:22 pm (UTC)And ETA - it is pretty, isn't it! Though I have to admit that I do think of fairylights as being Christmas-y... But you can be as un-Christmas-y as you like! *g*

Date: 2010-11-01 09:54 pm (UTC)I was going to threaten you with 1st December, but it's just been nabbed - instead I shall say, so you'd be okay with the 2nd December, if that day was left unclaimed?! Do you have any preference at all, or shall we just wait and see where you're needed? (And of course I'm happy to post for you... *g*)

Date: 2010-11-02 07:51 am (UTC)And no, it's not correct to have last year's prompts appearing as the hover - I forgot to change that part of the code! That's the trouble with only doing this once every 12 months, I forget what needs to be done, and there's always something... *g* Should be sorted now!
The numbers are indeed different colours - Prompts this year and shiny but simple - they're the colour of the fairylight that your chosen day lands on, if you'd like a prompt at all!

Date: 2010-11-06 09:45 am (UTC)It'll be lovely to have you reading as much as it would be to have you participating - I adore Pros at Christmas, there's just something about it that fits, so I hope you end up loving it too!
But having a Pros icon is no excuse - I'd totally lend you one for the calendar... *g*
