“A winter holiday?” Bodie tore the end of a packet of sugar, let it slide into his coffee, and reached for another one. “You and me? No birds? Just us?”

“Well I know you’d rather have a bit of sun, sea, sand an’ …” Doyle looked down his nose at the sugar, then poured two into his own cup when he thought Bodie might be looking at the waitress currently pouring a desultory coffee for a bloke at the far table. “Maybe not a hundred per cent holiday, to be fair. Could have to pick up a package for the Old Man while we’re there. But we’d get some time to ourselves as well.”
