“You can’t keep that cat, Doyle.”
Doyle’s mouth slanted, eyes squeezing partway shut. He stroked from gray tabby head to energetic tail. The cat rubbed against his tilted chin.
Bodie crossed his arms. “He’ll scratch your eyes out in your sleep. You’ll forget to feed him and he’ll die.”
“She.”
“She?”
“She’ll die. And she won’t. I’ll feed her.”
Purring, the cat kneaded Doyle’s jeans.
Bodie gripped Doyle’s shoulder, leaning closer. “And when you go undercover?”
“You’ll feed her.”
Bodie’s chin lowered. “She’s a terrorist’s cat, Ray.”
Doyle grinned fiercely. “So? You were a mercenary.”
Bodie tsk’d. “That’s just catty.”
