Well, things are a bit upside down this year, but hurrah for everyone who said they'd join in the eighth
discoveredinalj Winter/Christmas/Solstice/Let-there-be-light! celebration challenge - and this year, it's all...

(See the gorgeous full-size banner by

Discovered in a Christmas Pud is this year's Pros Christmas-Winter-Solstice-December-celebration challenge. If you'd like to participate (please, please do!) then all you need to do is comment below to choose a date, and then post something Pros-y and somehow seasonal on that day. It doesn't even have to be Christmas-y, it could just be winter-ish, or December-ish, or it could be related to another festival (even in the 1970s/80s there were people in the UK who might have celebrated Bodhi day, for example *g*).
If you'd like a prompt, each day has been assigned something that you might find in a Christmas pud, or you could pop over to
discoveredinalj and take a look at the Challenge banner for inspiration - this year by
minori_k - thank you! You might even decide to be completely anti-Christmas (although a passing reference to fit in with the challenge would be nice) - or your contribution could just be a present offered to any Pros fans passing through the comm… You can post as many times as you like on your day too - the day you choose is all for you!
The hope is that people will receive something Pros in their flist (or by visiting the comm) every day in December leading up to Christmas! I've cut the calendar back this year, as per the number of respondents to the challenge poll but if it turns out more people want to play than replied, I'll add more dates to fit. Obviously the more people who take part the better it will be, and the more days we will have something posted. For the last seven years it's run from 1st December - 6th January, and filled every day, so here's crossing fingers for this year.
It doesn't have to be fic that's posted either (though that's always brill, obviously), it could be art, or icons or other graphics of course, but it could also be something completely different. Always wanted to set up your own Pros trivia quiz? Explain your version of how the lads would spend Christmas and why? Start a discussion about why Bodie adores winter and Doyle doesn't? Make up a Pros crossword puzzle? Post that scan you have of a pic no one else would see otherwise? Anything and everything Pros-y is welcome! In the past we've had all sorts of things - check out the other Christmas challenges via their banners on our User Info page if you'd like even more inspiration.
As ever, we're happy to post for you, if you'd rather not do it yourself for any reason (such as Christmas being a hugely busy time for many people). And if you'd like to offer "extra content" that can be slotted into days nobody has claimed that would be greatly received as well! You can contact me about that via the email addresses on our User Info page.
Please sign up as soon as possible (so that we can organise for whatever days appear to be empty etc) but feel free to sign up any time the comm is running – if you're suddenly inspired on 16th December to post on the 17th, and it's still an empty day, then comment below and go for it! We'll just save the extra content for another time... *g*
And if something disastrous happens, and you're not able to post on your chosen day, don't worry - stuff does happen - just email or comment somewhere to let me know so that I can arrange cover. Occasionally people have forgotten their chosen day, so if I've not seen anything appear and it's getting late in your time zone, I might send a quick email to check that everything's okay.
To sign up, please comment below with the date/s you would like to post or have your work/creation posted. We will then snag your icon (so choose the Pros-y one you like best - our only request is that you don't use an animated one, because it makes us dizzy... *g*) to block off those day/s for you on the calendar. Then all you need to do is post on that day! The icons on the calendar will then also become links to your post.
Finally - this is the only
discoveredinalj challenge that has a very specific time limit for posting, just because we have people posting from time zones all over the planet and it can get messy if they accidentally clash. Please make your post/s for the day in the Lads' Time - that is Greenwich Mean Time, which can be found here (including both current date and time). And again, if timing is difficult, then we're happy to post for you - just drop me an email.
Aaaand - I think that's everything! If I've forgotten something really vital, then do let me know, or if I've not explained something properly, or if you just want to know more. Now I'm going to cross my fingers, hit Post, and hope for lots of comments below... *g*

Date: 2013-11-24 10:24 am (UTC)I have another thing. Shall I grab another date now, or wait? I can do one of the early dates - the 2nd or the 4th would be ideal.

Date: 2013-11-24 11:16 am (UTC)Hang on until we see if the other dates are filled up, if that's okay, and if they're not you can snag another one later. And if they are filled up, you do know that you can post as many things as you like on your day, right? You could post every hour in the hour if you wanted - or more! *g*
ETA - also, do you by any chance have another icon I could use? Your gun oil one is small enough that it repeats in the square a bit messily. The other alternative is that I can fiddle with it to make it bigger, but it'd be easier for me if you had another one I could use, to be honest!

Date: 2013-11-24 11:02 am (UTC)As you know I've got a little, totally non-xmassy (I'm afraid) double-hander; I'll check in with you via email for details (and I might try to tidy it up a bit - and maybe add a holiday reference *g*) but maybe it could be on two consecutive days? Two consecutive days would be great, if poss and if there happens to be a gap the right size.
You know I'm always scared of missing my slot or mucking up somehow, so I'll probably ask you to post for me ::embarrassed::
