Just when I think that DIALJ has covered all the bases when it comes to different fan media, you prove me so wrong. Podfic! I gather it is a big thing in other fandoms, but I don't know of much in Pros.

Most unusually for me, I went for the podfic first, not the story. And I was totally drawn in.

Loved the seasonal music at the start, and was happily enjoying the bickering and the references to some of the few places in London I actually know and then that letter! And when I realised who must have sent it, honestly, there was nearly a little tear. I am so, so relieved. I am sure this stands alone as a story, but for those of us who have encountered... er, well, perhaps I shouldn't spoil it just yet... that letter writer, hooray for him: hooray for his survival and hooray for Dimitri who is good bus driver. And hooray for snowy Scarsdales and taxi rides, knees pressed together.

Thank you!

Do you know how long the download will remain available? I can include the link when I send the story to Proslib but if there's an expiry date I'll add an alert.

OK - if you'll alert me to the new link when it's available I'll add that to our archived version.

Cheers!

Cool--podfic! I went and read the story, given that I'm at work now--and left a comment. It was delightful! The podfic will have to wait until I'm home and can download properly. Nifty idea! Thank you!

Oh wonderful! Thank you - I love podfic so much! I'm grabbing to listen to later, when I've been good and dealt with the day and the evening... I feel I can roll up my sleeves and do battle now, with a reward at the end of it all!

Fantastic – another podfic! I still have your first one on my ipod. Especially for us non-native speakers it adds local colour to the story.
As to the story, it certainly is a relief to know Maxim is doing well. And you managed a beautifully understated Happy Christmas ending for our lads. Thanks! :-)

This is awesome! I absolutely love it. You read it so well, and the story is great, very gentle and subtle. I love Maxim and the description you gave of his photos makes me want to make some art to your story (if you don't mind). I love the banter between the lads, you've caught it perfectly. The line about the Scarsdale made me laugh. Thank you for cheering me up while I walked the dog in the dark at 6 am this morning. What a treat!

My goodness, this was just fabulous!! I've only ever heard excerpts of podfic before now, so this is the first complete Pros story I've listened to. ..And it was wonderful! The voices (and your vocal characterizations) were so them! I enjoyed the way they had their relationship reflected back through the eyes of another character. ..Oh and even a foreign accent! You carried it off beautifully.

Speaking of foreign characters, your timing is impeccable. I guessed who Maxim was, because I'm just about to read 'No Mere Abstraction'. This is a perfect lead in to the story. *g*

I also loved that atmospheric moment with 'icing sugar' on the ground. So Christmassy. :D

Thank you!

I wasn't sure if I dared attempt a dodgy Russian accent without a shot of vodka first!

Nostrovia! *g*

This is just so gorgeous. It's not the first of your podfics I've heard and I think you are so brave to do it, (I certainly couldn't) and they just come out so beautifully. Having been to Hornsey and the Scarsdale so recently as well it was so easy to picture. Thanks so much for posting, I'd love to get all your pods all together as a collection.

I've just listened to this again - in the middle of the working day, no less! - on my way to an appointment. I love it so much.

Ooh, another Jojo podfic! Lovely!

Daft mare that I am though, I didn't realise that this is a sequel and I haven't read your Big Bang story yet! Not that it spoilt my enjoyment, if anything this has acted as a nice teaser for the BB story so that will be the next on my list. And then I'll come back and read/listen to this one again *g*

Troika! I love that music so much. When I was a kid it was used for some sort of children's program that regularly got played on the local radio station. I only later connected it with Lieutenant Kije. Anyway, it was a grand introduction to the story and a very enjoyable tale it was too. More podfic for pros - 4 now, I think *g*

You know this means you will have to podfic 'No Mere Abstraction' now (which I did enjoy, I'm just months behind in commenting as usual).
