Doyle landed awkwardly, foot skidding in the mud as he tried to right himself. A bullet whizzed past his head and he pushed his charge down behind a tree where she wouldn't be a target.

"Mr. Doyle," she said, imperiously, "I can—"

"You can't," Doyle snarled, slamming a fresh magazine into his P38. "You've done enough damage." He violently released the slide, chambering a round while checking for the enemy, anxiously listening for signs of his partner.

The familiar boom of a .357 Magnum gave away Bodie's position and Doyle smiled grimly as the sound echoed through the forest.
