Intentions


Bodie stopped the Capri outside Doyle's flat.

"Thing is," he started to say.

"What?"

"Last night. I wasn't not asking you..."

Doyle puzzled it over, cackling. "Isn't that a double whatsit?"

Bodie shrugged, too nervous to be amused. Why was that? Doyle was his partner, his friend. They'd faced death, shared nights out and the birds that went with them, built a reputation as CI5's finest. Together.

And yet he couldn't say this.

Doyle put his hand over Bodie's where it rested on the gearstick. "Come in for a cuppa," he said, "and tell me what I missed last night."
