I'm sorry, this is not a happy tale :(

But I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and may you and your loved ones have health, happiness and peace in 2016.

What have you done?

I understand where this is coming from, I really do, but there better be another chapter, come the New Year!

Would a pleasant request work better than a threat? ;)

A sad little tale. I really hope the ending is not as it seems.

A deeply sad story - but extremely well written.

This line - a perfect foreshadowing of what is to come.
Then all that was left was an eddy in the smoke-filled air as the cold draught from the closing door hit the blue pall of cigarette haze in the pub, and Doyle was gone.

I'm going to be hopeful that Doyle didn't go and so what it seems likely he did - and I hope the writing helped you exorcise some of your own demons.

Best wishes (and hugs) for the New Year.

Ohoh, I hope there will be a good ending to this story. There must be a good ending and I hope you will write it sometime in this year!

And I hope too that this year will be better than the last year! I need it too and I send health, happiness and peace to you and your family too!

As sad as it was, I very much liked this. ..Beautifully written and with such careful attention to the thought processes and physical details in each setting, that the scenario seemed very real. Nice work!

I have a confession to make - I haven't read the story (I'm not really in the right sort of frame of mind to read something sad right now, especially not when I have every reason to suspect it's very well done) so while I want to thank you for giving us a tale, I also want to apologise for not being able to read it yet!

I am very wimpish when it comes to sad fics at the best of times! :-)

I shall wait and see if maybe you are inspired to add a coda
::hint, hint:: *vbg*

Heh. Well, I read this last night and it (along with the new Star Wars) made the NYE blues even worse. Tsk. *g* But today I'm more hopeful that a better ending will have happened. For the simple reason that Bodie got there in time. He'd better!

At the very least, you know you managed to write a very evocative story!*g* Thank you.

Finally catching up - luckily just as you posted the sequel, so I didn't have to wait too long to find out what happened... Phew! And thank you - I liked the pub-atmosphere of it all too, I could just picture it!

Ooh.... I know there's a sequel (hooray!), and I'm just off to read it.. but I must confess I did like this as a standalone. Not because I want a sad ending, but because sometimes there just are.
