Title: Undercover
subtitle: Part III
a little picture story
by macklingirl
When they reached the safehouse, Lady Smyth-Stockington reacted in horror and told them frankly that she wouldn't stay in a house with only one bathroom and one bedroom. That would be okay for the two of them, but not for a Lady. They contacted Cowley via R/T and after a fair long discussion between Cowley and his goddaughter, they decided to go and stay in a townhouse Lady Smyth-Stockington inherited from her grandmother. An hour later they arrived, with the snow falling lightly.

"Wow, that's a nice little house you own", Doyle said with a whistle. "And nicely decorated too", Bodie added.
"Well, it even has some decent bedrooms, so you can choose which one you want to have", Lady Phylis answered and opened the door.
"Are you sure you're safe here?" wanted Bodie to know.
"Oh yes", she said. "There are only a few people who know that this is my house. Most of the people think it is my mothers and we don't really get along. It was my grandmother's house."
They settled for the night and a short time before they could go to sleep Lady Phylis knocked on Doyle's bedroom door. On his "come in" she opened the door and snapped a photo of what she saw.

"What can we do for you?" Bodie asked her, looking a little angry. "We just wanted to go to sleep."
Lady Phylis blushed and stuttered "Ah ... I ... mmm ... I wanted to ask you if we can have some shooting outside tomorrow. It should be nice weather and maybe nobody will see us ..."
"It's okay", Doyle said. "No need to be embarrassed, we aren't. But we will be up and awake tomorrow morning. Good night, Lady Smyth-Stockington."
Lady Phylis left the room without another word. It was so embarrassing. Had they really kissed when she stormed into the room?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning found Ray in the living room. He had changed into another pair of pyjamas and waited for her.
"Good morning, Lady Phylis. I hope you slept well."
"Good morning, Mr Doyle. Yes, I did. And I hope you're not angry about last night. I didn't realise...."
"No worry. Bodie is a little shy and doesn't like to show himself without his layers of clothes. Even a pyjama is too little of clothing for him." Doyle grinned. "The more the better is his motto."
At that moment Bodie walked down the stairs, grinning like a young boy on Christmas morning.
"Good morning", he shouted. "Is there any hope for a decent breakfast?"
"Oh, yes. Of course." Lady Phylis shooed them into the kitchen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three hours later Lady Phylis Smyth-Stockington, her staff and Bodie and Doyle drove into town for the next set of photos.
They had fun walking along the Thames during the snowfall

and waited on Westminster Bridge.

"Okay, let's try one last place", Bodie said. "It's getting cold outside. And I'm hungry."
They went to a derelict area with rundown houses where Lady Smyth-Stockington thought it would be a nice place to see a silk suit on Bodie and another lovely Christmas jumper.
Bodie and Doyle just got into position when Doyle spotted the sun reflecting. They looked at each other and began circling the area. Both were swearing under their breath because they didn't have their guns with them. It just wasn't possible to wear the gun under a jumper.
They rounded a snow-covered bush and a young man sprang out of his hiding. It was the young lighting technician. He ran over the open place but didn't get far, because Bodie jumped onto him and threw him to the ground. "Got you", he snarled. He pulled him up and together with Doyle he took him to the waiting car of Mr Cowley.
"Good job", he said. "Now go and let take my goddaughter the last photos and then come to HQ as fast as possible."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two hours later they were in Mr Cowley's office. "Ah, sit down lads", he said. "This lad wasn't a real threat. He was only angry because Lady Phylis thought he wasn't good looking enough for her clothes. And so he thought it would be nice if she wouldn't be able to take good pictures. Such a sad story of his life. Oh, and he told me that Lady Phylis had made an advance? She was in your bedroom last night, Doyle?"
"Ah, yes and no sir. I mean she was in my bedroom, but only because she wanted to take some photos of me in my Christmas pyjamas, Sir."
"You mean of us in our Christmas pyjamas", Bodie muttered under his breath.
And while Cowley looked at them with an astonished expression, they both started laughing.
I don't own anything except the idea and the mixed images. Not the boys, not the clothes and sadly not the house at all.
As always I hope you enjoyed the little story so far. There will be an epilogue in an extra post.
Oh, and if you click on the images in all three entries the image will be bigger.
