Welcome to my “Bodie/Doyle Christmas Snapshots”, a collection of random little scenes that popped into my head when I was thinking about the lads and the holidays. They’re not connected in any way and can take place at any point in Bodie and Doyle’s lives together. I leave it up to you to create a bigger story around the snippets for yourself! Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

SNOWBALL FIGHT
Bodie took a last drink of his hot cocoa and set his empty mug down. “It’s stopped snowing. What say we have a go at getting those lights up outside?” he said as he stood with a smile.
Ray gave his partner a chipped-toothed grin. “You’re climbing the ladder this year.”
Both of them dressed warmly a few minutes later, Bodie took the big box of lights outside while Ray headed to the outbuilding to fetch a ladder. Ladder in hand, Ray rejoined his partner at the front of the house, where Bodie was trying, and failing, to untangle a large string of lights.
“What the devil are you doing?” Ray chuckled, his breath crystalizing in front of him.
“Apparently making things worse,” Bodie grinned. “C’mon, give us a hand.”
But the harder they tried, the more knotted the string seemed to become, until they were both laughing at their apparent utter failure.
“We’re highly trained intelligence agents! We will not be bested by a string of bloody Christmas lights!” Bodie shouted in mirth.
“What if we threaten it with arrest? Think it’ll surrender?” Ray laughed.
“I’m willing to try anything at this point,” Bodie grinned, still pulling at the stubborn lights. “Ah, wait, I’ve got it!” he exclaimed triumphantly.
“Quick, get it up on the house before it decides to magically tangle itself again!” Ray laughed.
There were already nails in place all along the roofline of the house from the last time the lights had been hung, so it was a simple process of attaching the strand of lights to them, with Bodie climbing up and down the ladder while Ray held the lights for him. They had enough to do the roofline, plus around two of the windows and over the main door.
As Bodie climbed down from the ladder for the last time, his broad back presented such an easy target that Ray was helpless to resist scooping up and compacting a large handful of snow and letting it fly.
The snowball impacted Bodie perfectly between his shoulder blades, and he let out a surprised yell as he whirled around. Ray held up his hands, protesting his innocence, smiling sweetly, but his partner was having none of it.
“Oh, you’re in for it now, my son,” Bodie growled, a teasing glint in his eyes as he bent down to form his own projectile.
It was on from there, snowballs flying through the air as fast as they could make them as they chased one another like rambunctious children through the soft powder. Their laughter rang out high and bright in the winter afternoon as the friendly battle waged on, until Bodie spied his opening and charged Ray as Ray was frantically trying to form a new snowball.
Bodie caught him around the waist in a perfect, gentle tackle, sending them both tumbling to the ground, sinking deep into the snow. Ray yelped as the cold powder went straight past the collar of his coat, slithering down his neck in icy rivulets.
A friendly wrestling match ensued, the two of them rolling about until they were red-cheeked and red-nosed from the cold, covered in snow and laughing so hard they could barely breathe.
Bodie’s blue eyes were dancing with mirth as he pulled Ray to his feet and captured his mouth for a kiss that spoke of his happiness, that Ray returned just as enthusiastically.
Soaking wet and freezing cold, Ray tugged Bodie toward the house where they stumbled inside, still smiling, trying to peel off layers of sodden clothing in the entryway with fingers that had gone numb.
Starkers and shivering, Bodie practically dragged Ray up the stairs and into their bedroom, both of them laughing again. Bodie yanked down the duvet, kissed Ray hard and fast and tumbled them down onto the bed, pulling the duvet back up over them.
Bodie covered Ray’s ice-cold body with his own, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he began rocking against Ray, who grinned up at him, wrapping his arms around his partner.
“Survival 101…” Bodie smirked, rubbing himself deliberately, arousingly, along Ray’s naked body. “The best way…to get warm…is with…sustained…repeated…friction,” he panted.
Ray groaned sharply as he happily, eagerly, burst into flames.

DECK THE HALLS
Ray let Bodie take the lead in their search for the perfect Christmas tree and then delighted in taking the piss with him each time he pointed one out.
“This one!”
“Too tall.”
“This one, then.”
“Too short.”
“Ah, this one’s perfect!”
“Too skinny.”
“Has to be this one, then.”
“Too fat.”
Bodie finally threw up his hands in teasing frustration. “Go on then, Goldilocks. Find us one that’s just right, then!”
Grinning widely, Ray did just that, in a matter of minutes. Bodie put his hands on his hips and gave Ray the side-eye as he looked the tree over.
“Hmm…you’ve done this before, haven’t you?”
Ray just laughed and held out one end of the two-handled long saw.
Working together, they had the tree cut down and dragged back to the Capri in short order, where it was tied securely to the top.
Back in London, they wrestled the tree down off the top of the car, then through the front door of Ray’s building, into the lift and finally into the lounge in Ray’s flat, leaving a trail of needles like breadcrumbs behind them, but smiling the entire time.
Before they left for the tree farm, they had rearranged the furniture to make room for the tree and also set out the stand. Getting it into the stand properly was an entirely different matter, however.
“How’s this?” Bodie asked, from underneath the tree.
“More to the left. No, your other left!” Ray laughed.
“Better now?”
“Little more…little more…no, too much, go back,” Ray grinned, now blatantly messing with his partner.
There was grumbling from under the tree. “Now?”
Ray crossed his arms over his chest and pretended to study the tree intently. “Hmm…’m just not sure. Maybe put it back the way you had it,” he said, trying to keep from laughing.
“All right, that’s it, you wanker,” Bodie cursed good-naturedly and shoved himself out from under the tree, needles clinging to his hair and jumper.
He pushed himself to his feet and Ray let loose with his laugh as Bodie caught him round the waist and pulled him in for a thorough kiss that left them both smiling.
Bodie clapped his hands together. “Shall we get started, my little elf?”
Ray chuckled. “Let’s do this right, then. Why don’t you find a Christmas album and get it on the player and I’ll get a fire started.”
“Shall do,” Bodie answered, giving Ray a pat on his rump, moving over to the stack of records while Ray set about getting the fire lit with the wood stacked up next to the hearth.
It wasn’t long before a cheerful fire was burning and Christmas carols were playing, the holiday spirit taking hold as Bodie and Ray began decorating. The Nativity scene was set up on top of the mantle while their stockings were hung from it and the wreath hung above it. The table runner was spread out over the coffee table, one of the centerpieces placed on top of it. The whimsical elves, snowmen and reindeer were scattered about on the bookshelves. The tablecloth was spread out over the kitchen table, the second centerpiece on top of it.
A sense of contentment washed over Ray as he and Bodie set about trimming the tree next. Christmas music playing, the scent of pine filling the flat, the tree coming to life with multicolored lights, glittering garland and beautiful glass ornaments.
Finally, there was just one last decoration left, the star, that had been Ray’s grandmother’s. Bodie handed it to him with a soft smile, gently holding onto Ray’s hips to steady him as he went up on tiptoe to place it over the top branch.
They took a few steps back to admire the festive lounge, Bodie’s arm around Ray’s shoulders, Ray’s arm around Bodie’s waist, their heads resting lightly together.
“It’s beautiful,” Bodie murmured, turning to place a lingering kiss on Ray’s temple.
“Now it feels like Christmas,” Ray said softly.
But Bodie shook his head. “Not quite,” he smiled, fishing his hand down into the pocket of his trousers, producing something with a flourish that he dangled above their heads.
Ray grinned at the sprig of mistletoe as Bodie drew him in for a long, lingering kiss that left him flushed from head to toe.
“Now it feels like Christmas, sunshine,” Bodie winked.
