It's Time to Bring Him Home for Christmas

Pam gathered her shoes and comb as she crept quietly out of the bedroom. Ray slept through her leaving and she knew it was a sign. He trusted her, finally. She moved silently across the flat and retrieved her handbag from the side of the couch. She rummaged through it in place, and located the sought for item. A magazine. Marie Claire, last autumn's edition.
The magazine fell open to the exact article that she wanted to leave for Ray. She folded it back, as she had done many times before, so the article would be easy to read as he made his morning tea. It's Time to Bring Him Home for the Holidays. He'd read it, and he would realise that they were ready for this. She smiled as she slipped her shoes on and closed the door behind her.
Ray Doyle heard the front door close with its distinctive click and let out a long sigh of relief. She was getting clingy and this close to Christmas, he'd better pack it in or she really would get the wrong idea. He headed to the kitchen after using the bog. He noticed the magazine on the table immediately. He scanned the title and knew he'd left it too long.
He put the kettle on and bread in the toaster. His eyes drifted to the article while he waited, just like his tongue would worry a broken tooth. Ah, it was really just a bunch of questions.
He took down his box of muesli and the last of his mum's homemade jam. Sitting at the table, he scanned the questions as he covered his toast. He'd answer them. Could tell her that truthfully.
Question 1 - Is he the kind of man your mum would like?
Doyle laughed to himself. His mum would be all polite-like around Pam, but on the other hand she would love Bodie. He'd eat all he could, ask for more, and then help with the cleanup. He smiled at the image of Bodie in his mum's spare frilly pinny.
Question 2 - You're ready for your new partner to learn embarrassing stories and see embarrassing photos.
Pam was not a partner in anything, really. Fun in the sack, but not much else. Bodie was a real partner, and he knew his mum would haul out the photo books as fast as she could if he showed even a bit of interest. Bodie would do that in a heartbeat. Always liked wheedling out bits of his past. Fun in the sack as well . . . according to the birds they shared.
Doyle grabbed the whistling kettle and poured the water over his tea bag. He added a touch of milk as he read on.
Question 3 - You’re In A Committed Relationship – meaning you spend time together, discuss work, never feel you must put on airs.
Doyle shook his head as he sipped his tea, toast long gone. Pam was delusional. He'd never discussed work, not even his fake job. He never took her to the show. He worked hard not to curse in front of her. He shook his head again. Spend time together, discuss work, and never feel you must put on airs. That would be Bodie. Their partnership worked because of just that. If they couldn't do those things effectively they would have killed each other by now.
Question 4 - You feel comfortable with him at the end of the day.
Doyle shook his head again. Not with Pam, or any bird, so to speak. He had to keep secret most of what he did, what he went though on ops. Not with Bodie, though. Thank goodness, there. Sometimes it was so useful to break down an op or analyze it. A way to put it to bed.
Question 5 - Have you and your boyfriend ever been on holiday together?
Bloody hell! Never again with a bird! Wrong signals no matter the reason. That double date weekend had been a disaster. Bodie was the best holiday partner, ready for anything. Never expected anything. Easy to travel with was Bodie. Best mate, hands down.
Question 6 - Do you feel that you have shown your true self to your boyfriend?
Doyle chuckled aloud. He rolled his eyes as he stood and placed his dishes in the sink, then leaned back against the counter. He wondered how Pam would have liked it when he hit the wall at Bodie's in anger at a broken op? Raising his voice in displeasure? Bodie took it all in stride; most birds would flip out.
Question 7 - Are you friends? Is he still on his best behaviour or is he the one you turn to in an emergency?
Bodie was never on best behaviour, but no doubt about who he'd call in any situation.
Question 8 - Love or lust – When he grabs you intimately, do you pull away?
Not from Bodie was his first thought. With Pam, he always moved out of range. But he trusted Bodie, no matter where his hands drifted. In fact, he didn't mind at all. Come to think of it, if Bodie stopped, he would notice and wonder what was wrong.
Doyle closed the magazine and placed it by the door. He would return it to Pam when he let her down, but he'd thank her. He picked up the snow globe of London and shook it hard to see the snow whirl, then settle. His thoughts centred about the questions . . . her questions put things into perspective.
Actually, they really had in a way. Thinking about his answers . . . Bodie had been the answer to all the questions. What did that mean? His best mate, easy on his eyes, liked his touch and sometimes wondered what his lips would feel like. Wow, not only on his lips, but his cock as well.
Ray Doyle smiled.
He picked up the phone and dialled Bodie's number. Maybe it really was time to bring Bodie home for Christmas.

I'm having to remind everyone this year — could you please edit your post so that the header you've included above the cut becomes a trailer at the end of the story, under a cut. We've done trailers under a cut since we started the comm 17 years ago, but for some reason it's all being forgotten this year!
(Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to have to borrow a bit of today to make a post reminding everyone on the comm!)
