I thought I was done, but then this little bunny hopped into the room and demanded I do something about it.
So, here you go - one more drabble, pinned to the presentation board.
Elaborate
By preference, Bodie carries a Browning. He could sign out any other gun, but this is the one he wants. He explains to Doyle that the Browning has history. When Belgium was overrun in 1940, the Germans began manufacturing the gun for their own army. Belgian workmen sabotaged production lines and smuggled the plans to Canada…
Doyle pretends to fall asleep.
Bodie finishes his story anyway, because he knows Doyle is still listening. And because when Doyle’s eyes are closed, Bodie can look as much as he likes.
“You’re a romantic,” says Doyle, later.
“You have no idea,” replies Bodie.
~end~

Date: 2007-09-22 06:34 pm (UTC)They're pretty bunnies. All rainbow coloured, with the occasional one in little black leather straps. ;-)

Date: 2007-09-22 09:31 pm (UTC)Bodie's a lucky man, and he knows it. He's got everything he wants in his life - Doyle, guns, fast cars, birds, Doyle, the occasional kind word from Cowley, more Doyle... ;-)

Date: 2007-09-22 11:33 pm (UTC)As for the gun, is the gun the Germans were producing than from these constructions the gun that was called Luger (whereas the one that was produced from the smuggled plans was called Browning)? I'm not sure but I think that was a gun invented in those time... probably I got it all wrong. Have to do recherche if I want to keep myself as fit as Bodie in gun history, I suppose.

Date: 2007-09-22 11:57 pm (UTC)The Browning High Power was manufactured for five years by Fabrique Nationale before the Germans took over their factories in 1940. They manufactured it for their own army as the Pistole 640(B-for-Belgium). I love the Canadian connection with John Inglis (founder of Whirlpool Appliances) - it'd make a great movie.
Gun history is really fun to research! And thanks - I'm glad you liked my drabble. :-)
